There are a couple of threads about these mongrels on the other forums... Lots of speculation but the fact is they are nothing more than watches cobbled to gether with hands from the parts bin and some genuinely fake GS hang tags. I sent an e-mail to Seiko Japan and this was their reply... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Our Ref. 31670 Dear Sir, Thank you for your patronage of Seiko watches. Regarding your inquiry about information on the internet, we are not able to make any comments on the information, and we also do not disclose the details of any watch specifications to the public. In addition, Seiko authorized retailers do not change watch specifications by themselves and only the Grand Seiko has the Grand Seiko tag. Thank you for your understanding. With best regards, CS Dept. SEIKO WATCH CORPORATION ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Seems pretty clear that Seiko has nothing to do with these pieces and doesn't want to be involved. I suspect Seiko will be making some inquiries of Thong Sia in Thailand as to how these 300 or 50(depends on who is telling the story) watches got into the market place.

Saw those on another forum and personally don't like them. Shame to ruin a perfectly good MM. Wonder what the seller was asking for those?
Good job in letting Seiko know about these. Good luck to the seller who modified them and tried to pass them off as Seiko LEs/

Are those the new next generation 6319 divers?
Either someone needed a few MM hands for a MOD project or maybe the watches are a 100% knockoff to begin with.

Someone else asked Seiko what's up...see post #58 forums.watchuseek.com/f21/seiko-marinemaster-300m-special-edition-953148-6.htmlSi Seiko doesn't know if it has it's head up it's own ass or someone elses! From this response we also have to assume that Seiko knew about the fake GS hang tags deep-sigh-smiley-emoticon I hope everyone who buys one of those mutts pays through the nose for the privilege of having a barfed up watch on their wrists.

A lot of people seem to be missing the salient point here - it's an LE for Thailand, not for other markets. The demographics are that the Thai buyer will have a large disposable income and will just add this to their collection or buy it for cachet. Just look at the other Seiko LE's that have been sold in the Thai market place - they're hardly built for the tastes of non-Thai WIS's are they? So why is everybody getting so bent out of shape?, step away from the dodgy hands and look at something else.

Between the free availability of parts and now this abomination, I've come to the conclusion that Seiko considers the MM300 to be more like the SKX007 than any Grand Seiko.

So why is everybody getting so bent out of shape?, step away from the dodgy hands and look at something else. This whole thing started with a post that showed the picture I inked above. Aesthetics aside; we know the Thais have eclectic tastes; the big question was whether Seiko actually produced them. Nobody seemd to know anything other than some seller had these ones to show and they clearly have fake GS hang tags. If you read the reply I got from Seiko regarding the watches.s pictures; they seemed to not want to have anything to do with them and stated that only GS have GS tags. They would not talk about specs or quantities. Yet the poster who started both the original thread from several weeks ago and the one this picture appeared in go the completely opposite answer to his inquires. Mind you he did not supply the photo that I did, which came right out of his post. Additionally, the poster mentioned prominently had a Thai reseller site posed in a couple of shots. Personally, I'm not a fan of the MM300 anyway so the oddball hands make no difference to me.

Undoubtedly a fake. But with all the parts bin "Limited Editions" Seiko has been cranking out, I am sure he has sold them all already.
