A customer sent in a watch for restoration. His wife's aunt had found it at a church rummage sale for $2 and had gotten it because she knew that he thought watches were neat. Out of respect for her, he decided to have it restored. And boy did it need a restoration. It's a rare early JDM 6139-7020 Speedtimer, on the insanely rare original bracelet. The bracelet is so rare that I've never seen one . The watch had been beaten to within a hair of total death, but typical for Seiko, the case had protected the movement. It was ill, but wasn't dead. Amazing. Stem had broken, crown was gone, lume was damaged as was the hour hand. Very rough. It needed full restoration. Luming, dial cleaning, full movement rebuild, full casework. My partner who does the casework said it was, hands-down, the roughest case he'd ever seen. It was serious work to bring back. I don't know what the original owner was doing while wearing it, And here's what it looks like now:

Very nice looking watch! It's good to see that the dial remained in such good shape. Nice work on the re-lume and general resurrection!

I must say that as a 6139 nutter I think the dial and hands are really nice and the bracelet is the icing on the cake. Refurbs like this are so rewarding.

I didn't know these bracelets were so rare. One came with my -7020, but I've been wearing it on leather:

Fantastic Job! Did you refinish the case and bracelet too? Shawn did. What about the sweep hand and minute register hand - weren't they originally the same color? Why are they now different? Nice work, BTW. D.

I like it, AND it's MINE!
After 3 days it's running dead on; AND Spencer was able to resurrect the sweep second hand so it and the minute register hand now match!
As they some on some other sites, I would buy again!
Thanks, Spencer!

Here's a quick grab shot. (Click on it.) I am MUCH happier with having used the original sweep. The NOS one would have driven me nuts. That looks great, not to toot my own horn. Nice shot too actually.
