Caught the mailman on my way out the door this AM, delivering this guy: Single-owner, all-original, unopened and untouched, hacking (late production, 6105B), Proof/Proof, 6105-8000 on an original waffle strap. It was bought by a soldier on his way back from Vietnam, dived with a few times and worn on special occasions, and sold along with a bunch of vintage U.S. Divers/AquaLung dive gear in order to finance a '36 Ford restoration. The strap took some serious cleaning (and looking at the photos maybe could use a little more), but came out great. It's a little stiffer than the WJean replica, but with body heat it conforms right away. The waffle section is both 'spikier' and shinier than the replica. The watch needs a new crystal and some love from our favorite watchmaker, but I'm pretty happy to have this one fill the slot in the lineup.

That watch is AMAZING!! Congrats! What amazes me the most is that the crystal is scratched up as badly as it is but the rest of the case including the bezel insert looks brand spanking new! The guy must have had it sitting in his drawer for quite awhile!??
I cant quite make out the serial number........... what year/month is it from?

It's from June, 1970 - in the transition period to the -811x when things get all wacky with hacking/resist 800X's and non-hacking/proof 811x's. The seller said he's not a watch-wearer, and bought and used this as dive equipment (which there's not much occasion for in the midwest). So, it just sat in a drawer for > 99% of the 40 years he had it.

That's interesting as my 6105-8110 is from Sept. 1970 I assumed the 6105-8000s were made earlier then the date of yours!? Yours and mine are only 3 months apart! Interesting!

Yahoo auctions in Japan? Do you translate it with the browser? What's the Hades part? Pardon, if this is a real newbie question.

I'd love to trade one of my 8119's for an 8000, perhaps one day.

I know you paid a pretty penny for that one. I was in contact with that seller - he's restoring an old car if I remember correctly. Beautiful catch on that one - pristine!

It wasn't cheap, but as they say - you've got to spend money to make money. -- Joke courtesy an old friend of mine: Back in the day, this buddy invited some of us over to watch the Super Bowl. When we got there, he had a new TV - a tip-top of the line 40" Sony Trinitron - weighing in over 300 lbs! I said something very much like: "Dude... nice TV", to which he responded: "You've got to spend money to make money." Instant classic in our circle. --
