6309's, 7548's, 6138's and 9's.... Yeah I'm a classic guy myself, but any new models out there that you're digging? Well sure, there are the Tuna's, Sumo's etc... But what about lower end models? Dasher's recent post "Meet the New Classic" (http://wristsushi.proboards.com/thread/3194/meet-new-classic) got me to thinking... Are there gonna be any future (lower end) classics? There are currently SO many models... They all seem to get lost in the shuffle. Some of the vintage "Sports" models certainly are collectible.... Here is a current model that I liked first time I saw it. Bought one without even seeing it in the flesh. This is the SRP431, rocking the 4r36: Tried to really capture the map on the dial.... But, if you're not a map on the dial fan, depending on how it is held in the light the map almost blacks out: Yeah I know, most of y'all immediately dismiss it... I've heard all the negativity... "Why did they put a 5 on the second hand???" "I HATE the Seikos with a 5 on the dial" "It is only 100m resist???" (most of that comes from folks who aren't ever going near the water) "The map on the dial SUCKS!!" I like the little 5 on the second hand, think the map is cool, and don't dive. Then, I've always been a 5 fan. And, think about it, out of the THOUSANDS of current 5 or Sports models... Some of them have to be future classics?!? So who has any other new models to show off?

That's not a terrible looking watch, although I do agree, that the 5 on the second hand is a little hokey. Tough to say what the classics will be in 30-40 years, but I sure hope I'm around to find out.

Now THAT model I do like!! It looks tho as if you have to turn the watch just right in order to be able to see the map? Decent size....very affordable too! How's the lume?

Yeah, like Seiko has done on so many dials, the light and angles definitely has an effect. In low light or at the right angle the map is hardly visible. Lume is good, not torch-like but adequate. Certainly not everyones cup of tea, but I've always enjoyed some quirkiness.

I don't have one yet but this new SARG007 imho will be a future classic and I REALLY like it. It obviously has a lot of already classic elements to it but also has some modern touches. I may just pull the trigger on this one soon. (But to be honest I'm trying very hard NOT to buy another Seiko)

It has a classic look to it that most new Seikos don't.

One of my fave grabandgos I'm not a fan of that bezel design. understood. its not quite as off putting in person and does seem to look better on the bracelet, although I never wear mine on the bracelet. but yeah, I with they used a more traditional bezel especially considering the traditional dial and hands. there is an all black model that might be more appealing....once you get it off the garish orange strap....SNE245

Here's a peek at some soon to be released models. Top row looks interesting. Semi-shrouded divers with kinetic and GMT hand similar to space walk.

Huh! that IS interesting.
But isn't Seiko's kinetic technology still flawed with a very limited lifespan? I'm totally OK with being wrong about that, but it's the consistent impression that I've gotten.

I agree...I've been through the kinetic thing....not impressed....but I do like some of the watches....SKA371 and SKA427 for instance.

Pete has an interesting cure for a "dead" kinetic - he takes off the rotor and puts in a standard battery. Boom! It's just a quartz watch now.
