What kind of camera do you use? I can never get decent shots of my watches, even with our digital SLR Canon.

Beautiful, dial and hands don't com much better.
I find taking photographs of flat crystals (flat both sides) as employed on the 6309 divers is straightforward if the incidence of the light source is taken care of. Those bloody domed jobs though....argh. I also get the best results with my Sony mobile.
