Today was the day. Fortified by a smooth practice run yesterday, it was time for the true test ( I have no problems working on beaters, but the better examples freak me out a bit) Amazing how much crap comes out of a seemingly clean watch. Fitted Tom's new crystal, which is spectacular and dead on, the crystal gasket accepted it like it had a suction cup. Really happy with the result. Rob Great work! Love the bracelet too. Wish Uncle Seiko would hurry up and make one!
I thought you were going to lume the pip on the chapter ring.
Tom did mine when he serviced the exact same model

Thatโs great to see! I have a couple of those in the way to me should c19 allow takeoff anytime soon.

You will not be disappointed with the crystal, Pip. Seated flat and perfect instantly.

I have read through this thread a few times now, and really enjoyed the history of the iconic Pogue watch. I don't care for the gold dial Pogue, but the dark dial versions really work for me.

Question about originality of rotating inner rings. Do the fake ones ever have lume at 12 ? Or is it usually just painted and non luminescent? Lume shot of my early 72. Can we assume no glow(no matter how brief) is aftermarket? Rob

Would an English/Arabic day dial be genuine. Yes. No value added not any significant change in price over other common languages. Kanji, Romans and Chinese add some value.

Hello friends....
Out of nowhere today I've noticed dials with 2 line text "Seiko Automatic" and dials with 3 line text "Seiko Chronograph Automatic".
Both are genuine I assume? Is it a date of production kinda thing?
TY

TY Typically for later production years after like 1971, 6139-6002 will have the 'chronograph automatic' text and 6139-6005 with have just the 'automatic' text The 6139-6001 and 6139-6000 im not sure followed the exact same rules

Pogue crystals. Seiko OEM 330W18GN00 and S&K XMD330.821 I have always understood, from pics and having fitted the S&K equivalent, the crystal(s) to have a slight dome. Adrian (VTA) has a new offering and in the description he refers to it as not being flat top but slightly domed to aid clarity of the dial. I'm not sure if he is implying they should be flat topped. The 1977 Pogue I have just acquired has a flat top and from its condition and removal my thoughts are it's original to the case. The glass is 1.7mm thick so I will probably refinish it (removing 0.1/0.2mm) to keep the watch as original as possible. From Ebay, RARE 330W18GN Genuine Crystal Glass Seiko Pogue 6139 Flat Model Early 1972 Got it, www.watchuseek.com/threads/seiko-6139-6000-or-6005-replacement-crystal.4613577/So later models used the same part number 330W18GN00 but flat topped. Typical of Seiko to confuse us all, how hard would it have been to add another digit. Same story with 6105 crystals.
