Get it off your chest, and move on guys..... I wish them all well, I hold no grudge against any of them (SCWF Mods or members). Respect for some was lost, enjoyment had dissipated, so it was time to move in a different direction. I've never been one to conform to situations that I didn't like/believe in, so here we are. Well......I for one cant say that I dont hold any grudges against them because I do..... (that's just the kind of guy I am and my nature) but I agree with you.....it's time to move on and get over it! This new Forum as others have mentioned is like a breath of fresh air and I'm VERY happy to be here! Thanks to those who started up this Forum and I hope it's here for a LONG time! (PS.............we need some new Smileys) LOL

They had an agenda...get the forum traffic up! The new owners don't care how it's done; just get the numbers up. Well; now they are going down faster than they were going up...looks good on Time/Admin! Interesting . . . hadn't thought about that aspect of it, but it makes perfect sense. More posts / views means the owners can charge more for ads. I had already decided NOT to post there anymore after Tim and Chris got banned bit now I'll definitely keep my inputs to this board.

So I got banned from there and Tim did as well, but let me ask How many are from there? I only ask because I wanna know who the new members are. If you don't count those who were banned prior to the SCWF meltdown; it looks like pretty much everyone here is from there or WUS. Fear not; the word will spread Or both.

Guilty as charged. I haven't been banned from SCWF (YET), but have had my share of warnings/deletions. No one's perfect.

I never had any problems with anybody, members or Mods, and I try to steer clear of religion and politics in general. Several times I was tempted to jump in and make a comment, but decided to refrain as things seemed to be getting out of hand. I certainly felt that there was a bit of an atmosphere after the kerfuffle, and obviously many members feel the same way.
I sincerely hope that this "new home" will continue to grow and become what the SCWF once was, one big happy family.

I was very active at both WUS and SCWF until about 2 years ago. I got banned from WUS for a stupid reason and was privately harassed at the SCWF by the very same person who have caused many of you so much trouble. Over the years I've thought a lot about the administration of those two places and I don't have any better understanding of these people's behaviors now than I did then.
What I have figured out is these forums have become social sites more than repositories of technical information and experience. Sure people are utilizing the technical resources, but nearly all the activity on these forums is simply social. Even after all these years it amazes me that I spend more time communicating with people half a world away then I do in my own neighborhood. As such, each forum is only as valuable as its membership. I've also learned that the technological barriers are so low now that just as you all have discovered, anyone can make a forum and if you mind your costs and tolerate some advertisements and lack of complete control of the server, you can do it for next to nothing. There's no need to rely on the SCWF anymore. Hop on reddit, join or make a facebook group, or even make a blog or your own forum and find some friends to join.
While I can understand the frustration many of you have, be thankful that it provoked some to motivate them to go through the trouble of making a new forum. Life is just too short to have any emotion for people who can't even be bothered to share their first name.

he is member of the Anonymous group and if I did not remove the avatar immediately, they would come after me etc Wait, what? There is no Anonymous "group". There are people who act out and claim that mantle, but there is no organization other than that afforded by a single group title. Anyone can call themselves part of "anonymous". Hell, I've spent time on 4chan etc - I probably qualify. What grandiose nonsense. There is no "anonymous". There are disgruntled internet warriors who buy Guy Fawkes masks to protest corporate activities.. .not realizing that the "Guy Fawkes" mask itself is owned entirely by Time Warner. Every one sold gives them profit. Silly. What makes it sillier is that "Anonymous" is an anti-authority group. Time was acting like a tiny despot, a little dictator. "If you want to find out who is in charge, simply determine who you are not allowed to criticize.". That was Time, that was John. My take on all of their behavior was that their board was for them. Members were a necessary but unpleasant requirement of having a board that other people could visit. My story is a longer one but I'll make it short. Believe it or not, I was a mod there myself for a few months, extremely junior. I was eventually asked to step down, mostly because my main job was archival work and I wasn't doing it. I wasn't mad. My trouble started with regular sessions of butting heads, mostly started by my unwillingness to be insulted, degraded, ignored, belittled by the mods. Openly insulted by Noah Riley and then banned by Time for have the temerity to defend myself. After that I kept a low profile, and refused to be drawn into a dispute. We've got a the start of a great forum here, and it'll never be run the way the old one was. I have many years of experience on how to run a message board - the first and best lesson is to have as light a hand as possible. "If you do it right, people won't be sure that you're doing anything at all". We should be capable of self-policing. We're all grownups here. We don't need a nanny state to blow our noses for us.

And lets not let the irony escape us that while the "new" SCWF was initiated in order to shelter the forum and its members from some problematic trolls at the time, its own administration is doing far more damage than the trolls ever did.
