You all remember, when I picked this one up HERE. Well, it arrived today, and I gotta say I'm pretty pleased. Here it is, just out of the box. Some DNA, but not terrible. The pushers are reeeeally sticky, and not functioning. But, it's running, and that's a good thing. The bracelet is close to full size, perhaps one link missing. It fits my 7.5" wrist loosely, while positioned on the second micro adjuster. I decided to tear into it, and see what I could do to rectify the sticky pusher issue. Here is a pic of the dial, looks fantastic, and everything resets to zero. I was concerned that the bezel insert may have been modified, but luckily it was just the pics that made it look that way. It's in very good condition, nearly perfect after a bit of cleaning. The crystal will definitely get replaced, this one is in rough shape. Got it all put back together, and the pushers are now functioning properly. Of course, true to form, the project did not go off without a hitch. I managed to knock the old lume off the 12:00 indice, it never fails. I'm thinking the pushers may have been replaced by COSERV, it makes no sense that a franken watch would be found at a garage sale for $1. But hey, I guess we'll never know. All in all, I'm thrilled with the condition...and look forward to giving it some wrist time.

Drop a new crystal on it and you will have one bad ass chrono!
If the missing lume bothers you; get it off to Spencer.

Well that worked out nicely! That truly is a great find. No more Bullhead threads for me in the meantime as I've just let go of mine and the feeling's 'uncomfortable' to say the least. Enjoy yours! The Bullhead is a fantastic specimen of Seiko's 70's watchmaking prowess! It absolutely feels great on the wrist.

Great Score and it's nice to find out it's just the wrong crystal obscuring the view rather then a modified bezel. Pushers should be no problem. I'll bet Spencer has a few spares laying around.

What do you think of the possibility, that COSERV put these pushers in? It makes no sense that they would have been changed otherwise.

COSERV doesn't seem to have been too worried about using the exact right part.

COSERV doesn't seem to have been too worried about using the exact right part. Do you think it's possible COSERV installed these pushers, or probably not? If it was serviced, would it absolutely be noted on the inside of the caseback?

From my understanding Conserv ink stamps the inside of the case back when service is performed. I would think it is possible but who installed the incorrect crystal? It looks like an acrylic crystal rather then mineral glass.
My guess would be the same person installed both the incorrect crystal and pushers at the same time.

If COSERV has worked on it, there will be a round stamp inside the caseback which says so. The pushers and crystal should be pretty easy to source. Nice score! First thing I noticed was the bracelet was on upside down. Glad you corrected that! EDIT: Did the black dial ring get removed when the crystal was changed??

Nice find Tim, I wouldn't worry about the pushers so much but I'd definitely put the proper crystal in. What a buy!

And yes, I believe this is an incorrect acrylic crystal.

Ah, I think that is the problem...I noticed that the dial moves a bit, when downward pressure it applied to the crown. I've sourced the crystal, hopefully I can locate a dial ring as well.....please tell me I should be able to find one easily. Edit- I had a closer look, and it appears as if the black dial ring is still in there. I did not remove the crystal from the case.

Sweet . . . 'ya lucky bastard! Enjoy the heck out of it! really sweet watch, good week for the Sushi! I think the proper crystal has a slightly different profile which is why the insert looked a bit "Odd" in the pic's.
New crystal, new ring, NEW WATCH BABY!!!!!

I've never really considered getting a case refinish done, on any of my other watches, but this one might just be a good candidate.
