So, read the SKX399K is one of the "Rarest" divers. Is this so? Anyone care to comment? Anyone own one?

Jason.............. The SKX399(black bezel) and the SKX401(pepsi bezel) were only ever released in the Philippines. Obviously with a restricted market like that there were not the 100s of thousands produced like the other SKX models. It is hard to find but hardly rare. As late as last year people were still scooping up NOS pieces from the Philippines and I've seen several on the various sales forums since then. Since the only real difference between the 399 and the 007 is the dial, you could buy an AM 399 dial for your 007 and be miles ahead with the savings over buying one at the ridiculously elevated prices people are asking. There are other divers that would qualify as being more rare than these models.

I owned one, and sold it because it was NOS and I couldn't wear it. I got what seems to have been the very last NOS example from our good friend John Chua in Manilla. I got it with box / papers / tags / warranty paperwork. Nice piece, wish I still had it. You'd think I'd've gotten a mint for it but no one seemed interested in buying. the person who eventually picked it up did so because it was cheaper than buying a 007 for him, and he wanted a beater. He told me this after buying.

And as far as rare SKX divers go, I am gonna have to nominate the SKX011K (below left).

You can still pick up the SKX011J new but I'm guessing the K version is a rarer one... On the subject of rare 007 variants, I'd say the SKXA53 'Bullet' is more scarce than the 399 judging by how many I've seen offered in the last few years and their prices. I sold a nice one at the start of the year for £215/$360 and I've yet to see a 399 go for close to that.

I still have mine! The SKX011K is so rare that few people even know it exists.

Yeah the 399 are pretty hard to find these past few years. I've been contacted by the store where i have been getting them informing me a piece or two but it seems they've been educated of these rare piece that they jacked up the price a bit which made me pass on them. I have seen them pop up a few times also on local buy and sell sites and prices are too much for used or near mint. If one pops up cheap, it gets snagged in minutes after posting. I have been lucky to fish one out of the bay for a 401 (pepsi version) but it had an aftermarket bezel insert and polished glass. I have it on an old insert and curved oyster at the moment.
