One of the ugliest dials ever produced. And unlike the genuine article, all these crap fake dials have the markers and logos glued on; not pinned. If you look closely you can see the markers are not straight and are not all the same distance from the printed minute marks on the edge of the dial. I just found it funny that three people in that thread all had problems with Loy offal. And yet, he manages to sell every one of these clapped together atrocities that he puts up for auction. The sadest part is there are somany of his pieces of garbage out there now that the whole field has been polluted forever

Such utter shitte. If I was going to mod a 7S to ape a 6105 I would use one of Jake's Typhoon dials. I'm always amazed that anyone can look at pictures of an actual 6105 and want to buy anything using those shitty ugly fake dials. And the hands and insert are nasty too.

Timber! I'm tempted to reply re attach using a hammer and a 6" nail!
Still got to feel sorry for the guy it was likely his pride and joy. A bit like that crap folk buy from Beejoo4 or as I like to call him beejooped here in the UK. It makes a small fortune and is totally lashed up out of aftermarket crap. I have a nice T dial I am about to stuff on fleabuy and I bet it makes half what his crap makes even though mines the real deal. It's magpie syndrome. Folk see some thing nice and shiny and are instantly attracted.... hmmm next time I go out on the 'pull' I am going to paint my knackers with silver glitter and see if I attract any women.

Yeah, one of the "bad ones" to watch out for. But then, that's the job of the intelligent collector / watch-buyer. Do the homework, do "due diligence" BEFORE buying. Learn who is good & who's "product" tends to be "problemmatical". At least there was one guy selling over here who accurately named himself on eBay - something like "restoredwatches". At least that way you were pretty much warned ahead of time that his stuff mainly was re-dialed & had replacement parts. But with others you do have to get to know them better before "pulling the trigger". On the other hand, many wonderful sellers and wonderful watches from this corner of the world when you study the ENTIRE watch market in the Philippines ... we also have a good number of upscale boutiques from big names in the luxury & hi-end watch brands ... mainly in Manila area but also some in other large cities. You'd never know you were in the Developing Nation arena when visiting there! Make sure to read my Philippine collection threads like: wristsushi.proboards.com/thread/4820/philippine-gemsalso a couple in the non-Japan section [one for Swiss, another for American/US]. Cheers!

It looks like they're done with a press on the back of the dial. (Photo by "Cannop" as far as I can tell).

For what's it's worth, I think Loy is a talented guy who sometimes (often) has QC slips. Either that, or he has someone working for him and Loy doesn't check his work before he ships. I mean, you have to give the guy some credit for being able to modify a 6309 so it runs in reverse. He also seems to be decent at refinishing. Not really my thing, but some folks like vintage watches to look like new. I'm not at all a fan of selling reproduction dials with "SEIKO" printed on them, or designing new dials with "SEIKO" emblazoned on them. Myles

Myles Yes, he has talent but most of it is misguided; re the fake dials. Hid reverse movements are not really all that clever; he simply flips the pawl wheel, pawl lever and puts the mainspring in backwards. This forces the movement to wind and run backwards(same as too much pressure when back hacking). Unfortunately this does not make for a very accurate nor consistent timekeeper and there is no telling how long these mutts will run. If he dropped the Seiko logos and put his own on the watches, I might be a bit of a fan but as long as he is stealing Seiko IP, I consider him no better than any other crook.

Myles After my local watchmaster built me the first 6117 GMT diver (also modified to hack) and then the first 6309 GMT (also modified to hack which was less complicated usign 6306 parts) I mentioned to him that Loy had used his how to post to make puppy mill knockoffs and even a 6309 that ran backwards. 3 days later he said he had buitl one but it wasn;t stable enough for daily wear. I guess as posted above Loy could care less about durability and is in it for the quick buck. While you shouldn't stereotype anyone based on their geographic location rather than on their skills I remember Noah Fuller saying many time that he wanted to put out a great product and all of his suppliers in Hong Kong and elsewhere wanted to sell him "cheap" products and try to convince him to maximize his profit. The Lume was the main problem.

Not sure if it's the same person but there is a seller in the UK (that has gone through several ebay accounts) that buys stuff from these "puppy mill" sellers then glams them up with pretty photos and slick ads trying to make a buck.

There's a couple of sellers in the UK who flip these watches for a nice profit. Slick ads with no mention of a/m parts to lure the less knowledgeable buyers. They always state the watch has been recently serviced but then go on to say that it may loose or gain several minutes a day and may not be waterproof . There are some who don't even take pictures and just use the pics from Loys original ad. Regarding those 6105 dials, it would seem that some buyers love them. I had one and the hour markers started falling off so I relumed it to cover the horrid green lume and the new lume also held the markers in place. I fitted it to a 6309-7040 and sold it on ebay for £180. Then a few weeks back I was looking for another 6309-7040 for a project and spotted a 6105 dialled one on ebay and added it to my watch list. It ended up fetching almost £240 - ebay link .

yep that's the bastard. He goes by about 2 or 3 names in total. Gets £550 for lash up 0030's. It's all down to the photos. Think you'll find a couple of folk on here have brought from him possibly including mr flagpolecrabtree. I nearly brought from him before I knew what to look for. Same in the clock game. The guys who do the fakes and marriages are the guys making the big money. The guys who hunt and find the real mccoy's are the guys who struggle to make a living.

As I've said so many times, I have no idea and cannot grasp why no one has taken the time to produce a 1:1 dial and handset for the 6105. The people who make this junk seem like they've taken a cursory look at a bad picture of a 6105 and slapped together a "good enough" set in a weekend. Why bother making this stuff at all? oh right, because people buy it. Look at Time_Classics / Timely_Classics / Firefly (or whichever of the eight or nine aliases this seller has gone by) - making a fat living off of the cupidity of uneducated watch enthusiasts for years.
