Now for what everyone has been waiting for. The Northside. Ok. There are different degrees of the Northside but if the street sign at the corner is green and has the letter N followed by a number lower than 60 you are on the wrong side of town. The worst area is between I-94 and Burleigh and 60th Street east to I-43. Now I know some people who are scared to go east of HWY 100 (108th street) and some people who say "that area isn't ghetto" when I call it the Northside and I say "Well I don't see you living or shopping there" 'Nuf Said Since it now cold out there are not droves of the locals sitting on there porches or congregating on street corners and if they were I still don;t think it would have been safe to take pictures of people many of whom most likely have warrants and are wondering why some cracker is taking their picture. Also trolling the side streets is not the best idea espiecially if some cop stops you and asks you what you are doing down there with 2 guns in your truck and you tell him "I'm taking pictures of my watch to put on the internet" So sorry if the pictures are somewhat uneventful or fear invoking. But if you want some action come on up to Milwaukee and we can go cruising the Northside for hookers and crack after dark So I went down to the straight up straight up Northside hood where I grew up. The house I grew up in. It used to look nice, had a split rail fence, the grass was cut, there were no ghetto tumbleweeds stuck in the flower beds but this is what happens when hoemowners move out. My dad had to pound small picture hanging nails in the top rail of the fence because the locals would try and sit on the fence while their gang of ghetto yout's would play in the open fire hydrant. He also ran a piece of wire between the house and the fence because the locals would always cut though our yard rather than walk on the sidewalk. This is the side porch where we had our Weber grill chained up to until someone came and cut the legs off of it and stole it. One time my parents left a 12 pack of Diet Coke on the backseat of the car. Some local threw a propane cylinder they grabbed off of the back of a pickup truck hauling scrap parked up the block through the back window to steal the soda. There used to be a mulberry tree between the houses which attracted all of the ghetto yout's who parents never taught them the concept of other peoples property This is the house across the street. I remember the woman who lived there had a new Pontiac Trans Am with the firebird on the hood. There used to be 6 houses on that block. Now there are 2. Remember what I said about every 3rd house gone. Looking down the dead end across the street you have 2 boarded up houses and another empty lot. Someone got stabbed (not sure if they died) on the porch of the house furthest to the right when we lived there. The blue house with the red trim also caught on fire while we were there. When we moved in and I was maybe 5 at the time there used to be a hospital kitty corner from us. It had been closed for a while and they were tearing it down. Kids like fire trucks and construction equipment so we had a front row seat for the show. I remember is was a one man show and the guys name was Carter. He took the whole 8 story or however tall it was building down all by himself. It was a vacant lot after that where the local would dump used tires by the truck load and all other kinds of upper class activities. Now it is a park or something. The Welfare Office. They renamed it the so so and so human services office a while ago to make them feel better about stealing from the taxpayers. In the old days when you had to pick up your welfare check n person and you used to see rows of new Cadillac's lined up outside with 3 people getting out of them to get their checks. Across the street there are 5 furniture stores which have been there forever. There are now 3 cell phone stores. Pick up your check and go across the street and pick out your new furniture. Here's some ghetto tumbleweeds and a payphone. Can anyone else tell me the last time you saw a payphone? That's your challenge for tomorrow. Take a picture of a payphone. Most of the payphones disappeared when burner cells came out. Some Northside specials. 25 years ago they would only steal the aluminum siding off of houses 7 feet and lower since you could do it without a ladder. Now that all of the low hanging fruit has been picked now they steal it all the way up to the top Gotta claim your set everywhere you go. Anyone want to buy a school cheap?

Holy Crap Josh! Your pics are just like the ones we see in those end of the world movies!!! That is so depressing Thanks for risking your safety to show the World Traveler and us what it's like outside of our comfortable middle class WASP neighbourhoods. I used to see derelict neighbourhoods in San Jose Cal and wondered what had happened to cause this. Drugs have far reaching affects it seems

How about some more Northside. The elementary school 2 blocks from our house I went to for 2nd through 4th grade. By 4th grade I was in class maybe with the rest of the kids maybe 2 hours a day because they were so behind (or I was just that much smarter) that I had to go to the library and read or program basic on the Apple 2 computer they had. At the end of the block is Tiefenthaler park where a serial killer was killing hookers. And check this 3 degrees of separation shit out. I was out in Franklin, WI (richie suburb) on a Saturday picking up a set of seats for my truck 5 years ago and there was a motel with a few squad cars in the parking lot. When heading back home they now had 30 cops there and it was all cordoned off. Turns out Walter Ellis was there and they caught him as I drove by. serialkillersofwisconsin.weebly.com/walter-ellis.htmlI turned right at the corner and saw some new 5 story building. I was also surprised by the number of "new construction" in the hood which obviously is completely government subsidized or it is a government building because no one else in their right mind would build there. Wanna buy some crack? I was driving up a side street and saw a guy leaning into the window of the white Cadillac. As I drove by you could see the guy in the street had cash in his hand and there was a guy in the blue Impalla hanging out in the alley. When I got to the corner stop sign I got out the camera and turned around to try and get an action shot for all of you suburban commandos As you can see the Cadillac is now pulling away towards me. Great. I turn onto Fon Du Lac and I hear squealing tires behind me and it is this guy. So now I am thinking we are going to have one of those famous Milwaukee rolling shootouts. He changes lanes into the parking lane and speeds past at at least 70MPH in a 30. Down the road ahead I can see him swerving in and out of traffic. And these people wonder why they get pulled over for driving while black. It's not because you are black. It is because you are a phuking idiot. I thought I found Jeffrey Dahmers house but I had the wrong vacant lot as half of the block is bulldozed. I will have to see if I can make it back for another shot. We lived 7 blocks away from Dahmer at the same time he was eating people. murderpedia.org/male.D/d/dahmer-jeffrey-apartment.htmThe "Milwaukee Mall" Um, OK. It used to be a Sears store back in the old old days until the 1960's when the neighborhood went down hill. Then in the 1990's it became an "urban" swap meet with clothing and pager booths. I have no idea what is going on there now but I wasn't about to stop and find out. Here's the apartment building where the maintenance man capped 2 out of 3 ghetto yout's who were trying to beat him to death with a bat because he was changing the locks. www.620wtmj.com/news/local/Maintenance-worker-wont-face-charges-in-double-fatal-shooting-253608631.htmlThis one confused me at first. I saw 2 groups of 5 people picking up litter. The person in the vest had on a uniform so I figured since the jail is 6 blocks away maybe they have the inmates picking up litter. When I was in MS I saw inmates patching potholes and picking up litter outside the state fair. But this liberal hippie WI so that can't be. Then a few block up I saw some more groups of white people picking up litter. Then it finally clicked. They were Marquette University students along with Campus Security for each group Silly rich kids, stay out of the ghetto. And here is Marquette. The Rave / Eagles ballroom. Unless you are a Rock star and rocking an entire arena you are playing at the Rave. The locals love it because all of the rich kids from the suburbs come down to the Northside for a concert and leave their GPS on the windshield and their CD's sitting on the floor and you can walk the street the next morning and count the piles of glass 20 feet apart from each other. OK OK your saying. Other than the high tension possbile rolling shoot out we haven't really seen anything I can't see Malibu or Beverly Hills or Aspen. How's this for GHETTO. 3 block radius. All on the main drag 27th and Wisconsin Ave. I wonder if the police know 2 of their trucks are missing. "We sell Soda and Water" Sorry but I don't think so. Many years ago this was an Arthur Treachers Fish And Chips been out of business and vacant for at least 25 years now. Across the street I think this was either a Wendys or a KFC. Next block heading South is a closed down auto repair and used tire shop and on the other corner is something else that is out of business. At the next intersection heading south we see another gas station out of business. With premium at $2.07 a gallon I can tell it it has been closed for at least 5 years. We have now reached the I-94 and the outer limits and have run out of Northside. You can see the Mitchell Park Domes on the left. On the other side of the viaduct is the less famous but getting just as bad Southside. If you run on the Northside you will end up in 1 of 3 places (or maybe all 3 eventually) The Milwaukee County Jail. The ER at county Or the morgue (sorry no pics)

It's beer thirty so I will have to write up the rest tomorrow. But here are a few I somehow forgot. A guy walking down the street carrying a car battery. Isn't that like selling your car to buy gas money. Used to be some big industry 100 years ago spanning 8 blocks then was transformed into Tower Automotive making car frames and now it is a vacant warehouse with half of the windows broken out and most of it bulldozed down. And here's today's food for thought to keep you awake tonight. In Stallis there are tons of payday loan and auto title loan stores. On the Northside there are sell your blood plasma stores. Why? Because if you don't have a job to get a payday loan on and you don't own a car you can't get a title loan. So remember that the next time you are in the doctors office or hospital and they have to give you blood

Todays adventures with the World Traveler and it isn't even 8:30 in the morning yet
I had to go to my house in Stallis to get one of my bikes so I could run it out of gas today since it is going to be the warmest day in a long time. I went there 2 weeks ago to get my other bike out and my tire was flat and the battery was dead. I filled the tire up and charged the battery. I get there this morning and the tire is flat again
So I have to go next door to my parents house, try to find the keys for their garage, drag out their air compressor and fill my tire up, and then put it all back.
I needed to change my oil so I had to do that before work*
*No watches were harmed in the taking of this picture.
The Speedway junkyard out back. they tend to frown upon this type of shit in the suburbs but when you have a boss who thinks that rules and laws don't apply to him well this is what you end up with.
We might have heat at work one of these days if someone wasn't to cheap to go out and buy some batteries when I told him about for the last 3 weeks.
So there you have it. I haven't even started the work day and shit is going downhill fast but why should today be any different than any other day

God, the Northside is awful. I worked at the old Schlitz brewery 25ish years ago when it was converted into offices. Is any of that still around? Also. my brother Brian was one of the young guys who worked for Jeffrey Dahmer a couple of years before he was caught. Apparently Dahmer worked away from Milwaukee at times. When he left this area he asked Brian to go along to Milwaukee, but Brian declined. He wanted to stay here. Boy was he glad he did when Dahmer was caught.

And the saga continues.
It's 9:06 AM do you know where your meth head mechanic is?
Oh look. There's Cooter locked out since no one bothered to open the door at 9AM so customers could come in It only took him standing around for 15 minutes once he got here for him to tell everyone he has to leave early around 1PM to go somewhere to do something.
And look who made a guest appearance long enough to walk around the showroom texting and then had to leave after 30 minutes and hasn't been seen since.
Oh well, I guess we'll just have to lock the doors and turn out the lights and call it a day.
Grilling some 1/3lb Angus bacon cheeseburgers on the Hot Rod grill for lunch.

If the World Time will make its way back to Europe I would be happy to host it for a couple of days in Gemany. Where can I fill out the official application form?

I had the perfect adventure all planned out for tonight and then it hit What was IT? Stupid daylight saving time I forgot it would now be dark by 5 and thought I would still have an hour after work to go to Holy Hill and get some nice foliage shots and the church and such. Well by 4:30 it was dark. So I hop on the freeway anyways and battle rush hour traffic heading North on HWY 41. It was a sea of red taillights 3 lanes wide for as far as the eye could see. I'm talking drafting NASCAR style no gaps flying at least (insert legal speed limit here) I figured with a full tank of gas, 3.5 gallons, if I ran 45 miles out and 45 back I should be near empty. Well 42 miles into it the bike just about dies on the freeway and I have to switch to reserve. I just passed the last Slinger exit and it is pretty much bum phuk Egypt past that AKA no gas stations or services. I was having flashbacks to Arkansas all over again. Reserve gets you .7 gallons. But if 2.8 gallons got me 42 miles I am just about assed out. I hit the first exit and luckily there is a gas station down the frontage road. I would have taken a pic but there was nothing but pitch black darkness around except for the soft white glow from the canopy over the pumps. It reminded me of Mad Max when he went back to Barter Town and it was the only light on the horizon. You'll have to take my word for it. There wasn;t even a street light at the intersection where the freeway exit met the county road.

I use to work on some wicked Kohler engined lawn mowers years ago when I worked in the plant game (plant machinery not roses and daffs). Could get those things down to about 50rpm I reckon. Those were sweet made engines. Probably total shit now!

Today's World Traveler, or should I say World Hustler, adventures in no particular order since my computer at home is now jacked up. Going on a bank run on my lunch break. Bag O Change and stack O Benjamins. Dumped the bag at Associated Bank. I used to pickup boxes from them til they got shut down by corporate so now they get dumped on. Went across the street to visit my friends at Chase. I hook them up with donuts once a month and Pizza Hut pizza twice a year to keep our relationship cool. Unfortunately I couldn't find a space near the door so I had to lug 150lbs of change halfway across the parking lot Time to start hustlin' change. Had to do a delivery on my way home to hustle up some in store credit at work to pay for parts to fix my used mowers and snowblowers I come across. Gotta parlay those winnings. Stopped at another bank which was on the way home from the delivery to dump some more coin.

Love the write in votes... If you don't like where the country is headed all I have to say is "Don't blame me, I voted for ICP :winner:" There was a Simpsons Treehouse of Horror VII with Bob Dole vs Bill Clinton but it turned out they were really Kang and Kodos and when they were exposed they said something about the 2 party system and wasting your vote. Kodos: It's a two party system! You have to vote for one of us! Man: He's right, this is a two-party system. Man 2: Well, I believe I'll vote for a third-party candidate. Kang: Go ahead, throw your vote away. And then at the end Homer tells Marge "Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos"
