Todays World Traveller adventures so far.
Woke up this morning to a bunch of noise outside. Looks like they decided to dig up my street as if there wasn't enough construction and roads shut down (which was to be part of yesterdays post until my computer got jacked up) They dug up the other corner a few weeks ago and I asked the guy if they could patch where my drive meets the street since the snow plow keeps tearing it up and now my truck bottoms out everytime I pull into my garage. He said he only digs holes. So this morning I ran out there and asked if they could patch it when they were done and they said they would so we'll have to see when I get home.
I was going to go to Jeffrey Dahmers house for the missed photo op but decided to stop by Easter Island instead on the way to work.
Doing some hunting before work.
Anyone want to know how Ebola really got into the US?
It all started here at work. After my boss took his pet cow and chopped it up for his ramalomadingdong shit he threw the meat in an ice cream cooler that has been sitting here for a year from his uncles gas station. Then after he passed out all of the meat he unplugged it and went on vacation to China for 2 weeks. I went upstairs and it smelled like a dead body. I told him I was putting the cooler outside and he started talking some shit like he always does and said "just plug it back in" That was a month ago and now we have Ebola here and the strain is migrating to the ceiling. The only thing that trumps his laziness is his Jewishness with money.

Every time I leave the house it is an adventure Stopped at a bank on the way home at Brookfield Square shopping mall. Anyone remember when a shopping mall (and I'm not talking a strip mall) was a mall? Now it is a phucking village. There used to be a building with stores in it called the mall and there was a parking lot where the people shopping in the building could park. Now there is a building with stores in it, buildings surrounding the main building that are stores, and then there are 15 restaurants surrounding the main building. Notice what is missing from the second description that was in the first? The phucking parking lot How are you going to attract 10 times the people an have nowhere for them to park? This isn't the Northside. There are no city buses out in Brookfield (actually there are 2 buses that come from Milwaukee to bus all of the Northsiders to work at the food court and the other stores) which means everyone has a car they need to park Anyways after driving in circles for 5 minutes I found a spot close enough and had to carry my 70lbs of change halfway across the parking lot. Dropped $125 in half dollars paying off my credit card bill at Sears. I overpaid by 1¢ so now they have to keep mailing me a statement with the 1¢ credit balance every month Check out that hippie talk on the richies Prius. I'm not sure which is scarier: liberal hippies or crazy people with rapture talk on their car. I was going to take Bluemound home which sucks on a normal day but then I remembered they shut that down too. The busiest intersection in the state and they shut it down for months. So now I have to double back to the freeway which is all jacked up from construction and now rush hour traffic Unlike last night where it was 3 lanes of solid red taillights drafting NASCAR style at (insert legal speed limit here) tonight is 3 lanes of solid read brake lights not going anywhere. Unfortunately the pics don't show the true travesty. So if anyone wants to know why I am always pissed off going to work, at work, or going home this is why. I can't wait to get away from this cesspool. Had to stop at the beer store. This ones for you Tim So I go in the store and go to the cooler with the 40's and the lights out and there is a guy laying on the ground working on the compressor for the cooler. I ask him if I can open the door so I don't smack him in the head with it. He says "No". Say what now? So I get ready to walk out of the store empty handed when the Indian gentleman and his wife who are the proprietors of said establishment look at me and I say "He won't let me get a beer" So we have to walk over there and get me a beer, damnit. The guy makes up some excuse about losing pressure in the cooler when we opened the door. Say what now? The refrigerant and compressor and evaporator and accumulator / dryer are a sealed system that has nothing to do with the inside of the cooler. So now I have to take my warm beer and throw it in the freezer when I get home. At least when I got home they fixed my driveway. Even the mudflaps stopped scraping. If the city workers happen to come across the forum some day I would like to tell the Thank you And once again the edit ate up my post

How about a drive in to work with the World Traveler. And we can play a game: count the orange barrels and detour and road closed signs If you get stuck on the freeway between 7:30 and 8 when everyone is trying to make it in by 8 or 8:30 and 9 when everyone is trying to make it in to work by 9 it is 20 times worse than what you see here. I can't even make it 1 block without construction, or should I say destruction because they block the road off and don't do any work for 6 weeks. Then they dig it up and leave it for another 6 weeks Girl Scouts Of America headquarters. If you don't turn left at the light you are landlocked since every North South road is closed West of there. You better get out of the right lane or once you hit the zoo interchange you will be parked for a while. Notice the nice smooth asphalt. What you can;t see are the 2 foot by 2 foot by 6" deep craters. You would think that since they shut the freeway down at least once a week at night they could at least patch the potholes. It took them 3 months to finally fix the 76th street bridge only to then close down 76 street so you're screwed for another 3 months You can see State Fair Park, the Pettit Ice Center, and the Halloween costume giant inflatable pumpkin you go into which is also the make shift store. It used to be before the construction that if you didn't get off at HWY 100 you were stuck or 4 miles until the Moorland road exit if traffic was gridlocked. Now they closed just about every exit down so you are screwed the whole way. They had better have a better interchange planned out with all of that vacant land because you get these asshats who ride the left lane until the last minute then want to change over 5 lanes or when traffic is going 40MPH they decide to come to a complete stop to try to merge on the exit lane Some more cones for the game Just like the grocery store you have to pick you line wisely and at freeway speeds you have to choose fast. Right now traffic is flowing but if you choose I-94 west you can't see what is past the zoo interchange and it could be completely stopped. Luckily I can also take 45 / 894 in case of emergency but there are more side streets involved. Since both HWY 100 exits are closed you are now at the point of no return. Now entering the "Gauntlet" Lanes narrow, semi trucks everywhere, concrete dividers, crater pot holes. They actually shut the whole freeway down at the Zoo interchange which is the most traveled section of Interstet HWY in the entire state of WI for an entire 3 day weekend. You think they could have fix the potholes at that time? No This is the 2nd worst interstate incline I have ever seen. The worst was in southern IL on I-57 near the MO border. But then again I don't have to drive I-57 everyday. I do have to drive I-94 everyday What ever happened to "Truck use right lane" and "slow traffic keep right? This is what I am talking about coming around the curve and finding traffic completely stopped because of all of the trucks that can't go over 25MPH up the hill. Can't have rush hour without you daily car crash for all of the looky lews to stop and gawk at. At least the Sheriff is heading the other direction. But wait. We have our own wreck on this side Remember when I said if you didn't get off in time you were stuck for 4 miles? Well here is the first out 4 miles away and it looks like they are planning to shut that down soon as well and that is my exit. Now we're 8 miles from home and off the freeway so things should be better, right. WRONG The only North South street that runs the whole gambit and they decide to build a new Walmart which somehow involves closing down turn lanes and driving lanes nowhere near the construction. Same road in all of the following shots. Let's shut down 2 out of 3 lanes for weeks on end. Does that sign say "End road work" cuz it looks like it is just starting to me Welcome to New Berlin These tracks are shut down to 1 lane at least 2 weeks a month every month because it is not the HWY Departments jurisdiction. The main road for the New Berlin industrial park. So lets shut it down too for the last 6 months The only semi truck traffic and crowned roads that are worse that I have ever experienced was HWY 78 coming out of Memphis heading into Mississippi by the rail yard where they process sea freight containers. That is 8 lanes of bumper to bumper semi trucks 4 lanes wide going 3 MPH no matter what time of day or day of the week.

Today's World Traveler adventure. Grilled up some more 1/3lb Angus bacon cheeseburgers and some brats. Visited my friends at Chase bank again for another haul. I got a front row parking spot today. There wasn't a single other car in the parking lot. I go in and swap my cash for coin which took a whole 4 minutes and when I carried the first load out the parking lot was packed like someone threw the moron beacon up. What is the moron beacon? Anyone who has ever worked retail will tell you. The store is dead for an hour or 5 and then out of the blue the phone is ringing off the hook and 12 people decide to all come in at the same time. And I'm not talking about the 12 noon lunch rush. I'm talking the 10:27 or 2:17 or 3:52 influx of dumbass'. The only thing I can figure that compells all of these people to show up at the same place at the same time is that like the Bat Signal there is a Moron Beacon and someone puts it up and they find me Another batch of the same. Hustling up some more in store credit. Had to stop at a bank on the way home to dump some coin to fund tomorrows pickup. I stopped at the beer store in Stallis afterwards and there was a chick there who had been on the wrong end of an old school ASS WHOOPIN'. I'm talking 2 black eyes and the whole 9. Sorry no pic in case the guy she was with was the one handing them out because I am doing just fine the way I am. I'll have to use the B-roll stock photo from the other day.

Cool stuff Josh . . . what about the Harley plant? Harley Davidson museum and restaurant. Old pic from another travelogue I did for one of the bike forums a few years ago Harley factory at 37th and Juneau in the hood. Old photo of same plant. Old photo of the plant on Capitol Drive I rode by the Pilgrim Road plant on Monday night running my bike out of gas but didn't stop in the dark for a photo op.

Today's adventure with the World Traveler. I had to make a stop on the way to work which required me to take the side streets to work when I could find one that wasn't shut down so now it is a 35+ minute commute instead of a 20+ minute commute The Milwaukee Mile racetrack at the WI State Fair Park. They used to have Indy car races there and the Milwaukee Mile race was always the first race after the Indy 500. You can sometimes hear NASCAR and Indy teams running practice and tuning laps there. Mount Stallis. You can't make this shit up. They piled up a ton of dirt while tearing up the freeway and the locals dubbed it "Mount Stallis" Then the DOT decided to keep it. www.westallisnow.com/news/mount-stallis-dresses-up-b99288589z1-262610001.htmlireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-1144176They are cutting down all of the old school pyramid style high tension towers and putting in new single poles. Cooter and Little Wonder at the beach. And who is Little Wonder you ask? Some guy off of the street who bought a spark plug from us once or twice so my boss says "He must be qualified to be a mechanic" and gave him a job. He shows up maybe 3 days a week for 2 hour and then you don't see him for 3 weeks all while customers machines are taken apart and no one showing up to work to finish them. In the rare event that he is at work for more than 4 hours 2 days in a row it takes the whole 8 hours to do a tuneup which normally takes 30 minutes. I constantly catch him roaming the parts department and the junk isle instead of working. Everyone yell ED JONES with me "License and registration please" "You're frightening me hillbilly" "Am I? BOOOO. Hey listen, why don't you get me in this golden chariot and take me once around the gas pumps" If you can name that movie then Stopped at BMO Bank on the way home to pick up my 4 Friday boxes of half dollars.

Today's adventure. Had to go to a few banks this morning. Got stuck behind a Milwaukee limo. There used to be a quickie mart that we would stop at when we skipped school back in the old days and a Little Ceasars pizza. Then the richies tried to make the neighborhood more "upscale" so they ran them out and put in a Starbucks and a Qdoba a few years ago. This is where the Northside ghetto youts started a riot during Tosafest this year. First the ruined Greekfest, then State Fair, and now Tosafest. Stopped at a bank to dump some coin across the street from the library. Looks like someone was riding dirty this morning And look another Milwaukee limo holding up traffic and dropping off Northsiders in your nice safe neighborhood so they can steal your cars, shoplift at your stores, and burglarize your houses. Stopped at my emergency bank. It used to be a church. The inside still looks like a church. In case there is an emergency and I run out of coin they usually have a box of halves. Today they didn't Got stuck behind another Milwaukee limo on the way there. Stopped at another bank to dump the rest of my coin so when I get home I can regroup and count my stash and try to figure out where it all went as it should be increasing every week not staying the same or going down. Remember the Darwin award train tracks from the other day?

Some pictures of Downtown leftover from last weeks trip to the Northside. If you are into historical stuff there are plenty of old buildings that have have changed purposes over the years. Unfortunately they are slowly tearing down some of the 1 , 2, and 3 story historical buildings. There are also a lot of attractions around town that people travel hundred if not thousands of miles to see but when you live here and have "been there, done that" and you can see it any day you want they lose their appeal. Miller Park There must be some illegal street racing going on or something because these are new and weren't here earlier in the year. I don't see any burnout marks so maybe since the road isn't all pot holed up to jack up your ride they threw these up to help jack up your ride some more. They need to stick to shutting down the freeway and the Hone Bridge for their street races or go back to Tower Ave on the Northside. www.wisn.com/news/wisn-12-news-uncovers-street-racing-on-i43/27944236fox6now.com/2014/09/24/video-showed-street-racing-in-i-43-in-waukesha-county-now-two-men-have-been-cited/After they built Miller Park it was surrounded by a wasteland of contaminated land in the valley from old industry. They tore all of that down and when they decided to jack up the Marquette Interchange they had a ton of dirt to move (Mount Stallis style) so they dumped it in the valley. There is now AT LEAST 10 feet of fresh dirt over the entire valley floor. Then the city handed out money like free crack on the Northside to try and get businesses to move there. Here's the valley looking up at the 35th Street viaduct. The rail yard and 27th Street viaduct. You can see the Mitchel Park Domes / Botanical Gardens on the right. First it was the lottery to separate the welfare recips from my tax dollar funded handout checks and then Potowatomi Casino came to town. Great place to put a power substation. Under the free way bridge at ground level with only an 8 foot fence. If that doesn't have Al Qaeda tourism point of interest on the sight seeing map I don't know what does. The Harley Davidson Museum Leaving the museum heading into downtown. They are really trying to "fluff" the city with all of the fancy "modern" bridges and freeway walls and fencing but they can't fix the damn potholes. It's all a polished turd. Tourists come in, see the fancy lakefront and freeway and downtown area while all of us residents suffer. The blue Fed Building City Hall in the center. The library. The Museum. The new director of the museum was the guest speaker at our coin club banquet last month. The Discovery World Museum (used to be housed in the library until they built this waste of tax dollars) The Art Museum Calatrava wing. County jail with the courthouse behind it Courthouse Some more old buildings. The Pfister hotel. Most expensive place to stay in town. First Wisconsin center. Now call the US Bank building. It changes names whenever whatever bank owns it at the time goes under or gets merged out. Not quite the Space Needle but the downtown Hyatt has the Polaris. I think 2 Pac got banned from Milwaukee after starting a fight in the lobby there. news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1368&dat=19940905&id=BJpQAAAAIBAJ&sjid=FBMEAAAAIBAJ&pg=6923,1378878 doorsopenmilwaukee.org/buildings/polaris-at-the-hyatt-regency/Usingers Sausage on Old World 3rd Street. BMO Harris Bradley Center where the Bucks suck at year after year. There used to be a freeway spur here until they redid the Marquette interchange a few years ago. Looks like you could build a new basketball arena there. I wonder who was blowing who going back all the years when they plan out the next 10 years of bribes and greased palms. Water Street and Old World 3rd street a few blocks away are the main strip for bars and night clubs. The 3rd Ward where all of the artists and hippies with money live. They went and built a bunch of condos on the river that smells like dead bodies there a few years ago. Silly hippies. Summerfest grounds. They claim something like the worlds largest music festival. Fine. Sounds good on paper. You ever been there? I have and everytime I go I remember why I said I would never go again. Northsiders fighting, $8 beers, everyone is elbow to elbow, it takes over an hour to walk from one end to the other so if you are actually there to see a band or 2 you had better hope they are playing 4 hours apart. The blue Fed Building again across the street from the former Grand Avenue Mall. I remember as a kid they remodeled a bunch of old buildings and turned it into a mall. Then people with money moved out of the city and got tired of driving through the Northside to get there and when Northridge Mall and Capitol Court Mall closed down all of the Northsiders moved on the destroying the Grand Avenue. It became nothing but shoe stores and pager stores and clothing stores. If you check the tax records the whole thing is assessed at $900K You can own 3 blocks of prime downtown real estate with free historical buildings for under $1 mil. There are houses on lake drive 2 miles from there worth twice as much. The Riverside Theater on the left. The Milwaukee River

Josh,
What an awesome travelog you have presented!
Why oh why are you working in that pit with Cooter and Ed Jones when you could be making a real and lucrative living doing travelogs for the tourism industry???
Sure, the Northside isn't all that appealing but your shots of some of the more historic Milwaukee Areas and buildings might make someone want to visit this famous city! I'm willing to bet you could turn the worst parts of New Orleans into a silk purse!
Anyway, I dare say that it is going to be a real challenge for any of the World Traveler hosts after you to even come close to what you have presented. Kudos to you sir!

I have some richie phuk mansion shots from last weekend along Lake drive and may try to get a complete set of "Welcome to insert suburb here" signs but damnit gas is $2.89 a gallon.

Today's world Traveler adventure. I had to clean all the beer cans and aluminum out of the garage to make room for my snowblower and bike and make a run to the scrap yard. Turns out scrap yards are only in low rent areas. Sort of like Plasma centers. Go figure. Rockin' my new Super Sport mullet. 2 racing stripes with big cowl induction down the middle. The bank forgot to order my coin so I had time to cash in my free BBQ sandwich coupon after work.

Today's World Traveler adventure. Unfortunately my camera doesn't like taking pictures from a moving vehicle in the rain I thought the Interstate Freeway system was supposed to make traveling faster Heading back to Jeffrey Dahmers house for Tim. You have to be fast on the Northside if you want to catch a crackhead. Here's one digging through the trash can (behind the pole) at the limo stop looking for cans. I wasn't ready to get a shot when he was digging through the one in front of me. Remember the bombed out gas station from the other day? Well it looks like Union Rules state that city workers aren't allowed to work in the rain so they have to take cover and sit around until the canopy until it stops or it is 5PM and time for them to go home. Another bombed out gas station on the Northside. I guess all of those drive offs, robberies, crackheads loitering, drug deals, carjackings, etc scared off anyone with a car from stopping there. Look another payphone Believe it or not this one was still in business (looked worse in real life) Dahmers house (now an empty lot). 924 North 25th street. It's a shame the hood is the hood. 100 years ago this area is where all fo the rich people lived just up the hill from the lake and downtown. Check out the original brick alley. Had a layover in India afterwards on the way to work. Some more unnecessary road construction on Bluemound nowhere near the "hotzone" for construction. Hustling up some more in store credit before work. Would have been no problem but remember when I said they shut down every North / South street and the busiest street in the state, Bluemound, and this one was 1 block south of Bluemound Travel tip of the day: Rain-X window treatment. Bob who drives semi truck for one of the LTL carriers we ship with at work. He is fun to phuk with as everytime he comes in he starts telling a story and you can get him sidetracked by changing the subject off of a keyword he said and asking him a bunch of stupid questions about the new train of thought and get him really worked up It seems no one wants to be photographed for my travellog for some reason It was time to place our spring mower order with one of the vendors, who by the way, is the only one who buys us lunch when they do. We had Bacon Cheeseburger pizza, Omish safe Chicken Alfredo pizza, and some wings from Rosattis  www.myrosatis.com/store-details/New%20Berlin/After work it was crazy cracker climbing a mountain cold out. All of the rain had turned to ice.
