Do yourself a favor and save the money .....I've been inside of a couple of these and they're not all that. The biggest problem had to do with the crowns cross threading through normal operation. It's stainless but a very soft variant. Definitely not 316L or anything similar in hardness

Thanks for the heads up, Shawn...I appreciate the feedback. I had not heard much negative about these, perhaps I didn't look well enough.

Harold ran only one production run of the albacore watches and I'm sure there's a reason that he stopped offering them.
Harold is an absolute class act and I can personally recommend him as a reliable trustworthy vendor. He's also an all around great guy to deal with, but the Albacore just wasn't a good product. I have to laugh when one surfaces on eBay with a ridiculously high price tag.....some jokers actually attempt to price these within the same scope as a Seiko SBBN007/017 Tuna....just boggles the mind

Doesn't it have a quartz movement under the hood?

NH36. Auto. I have it, and I like it quite a bit but I always feel like I have to be super gentle with it ( like the crown or the bezel will come off)

I agree with Shawn. I bought one when Harold first made them and took it apart to see how it was made. I have to say, it was pure trash. From the bezel that barely held on with a paper thin gasket, to the crown and stem, to the bad fit and finish. Harold is a great guy to deal with but this was not one of his best efforts.

I knew there was a complaint, about the underside of the lugs being very rough. I was always under the impression, that the build quality was okay...I know differently now.

Case soft due to lack of a proper ( Harding Process) when made. If the harding process was properly done then it be of good quality. One has to watch what kind of material is used to make things. If properly done things would be massive to have and to work with especially on a Machinist level of work. I seen this beautiful watch case on a Forum a guy (MODD'ed) a watch and all he did was treat it to some heat and it .....( caused dis-coloration to it to get the effects) and it was awesome to see. He distributed the heat in all the right places but did not over heat it so as for it to become weak.
I emailed him and told him it looked real nice and he had treated it to the right (water) dipping and quenching and it look great. He said he was very satisfied with all of it too. The sad part of all that, and I mean, let me tell you, ( I was very, very sad to see it ) .......... " It was a 6105-8000 Case ".

Well, to be honest, mine has had a few issues and all I manages to fix with ease, I put it down to small run with little proving time. Bezel gasket rolled up and jammed the bezel, hour hand came loose and the crown is delicate to use requiring a degree of sensitivity when resetting/seating.

Rob It took a few goes to get it just right, the crown issue is related to the stem tube being a bit on the large side allowing the stem to wobble around. This makes aligning the threads something that requires a deliberate action!

I almost bought one of these a few times but luckily some people I knew who already owned one warned me that it was turd. Great idea but rough production.

In time, even a Pinto became a collectible...albacores are not that easy to come by, so I'll just hold on to it for a bit longer.
