I like it...especially the "chrono face" in the one photo...looks like it's pretty fair sized. I'm sure I'm going to buy one when it becomes available....of course I haven't seen one in person yet...that will be the final test. Your thoughts? Apple Watch: Apple (AAPL, Tech30) also unveiled the Apple Watch smartwatch, the company's first wearable device. The Apple Watch pairs with the new iPhones to display notifications. It features a magnetic charger, health and fitness apps and a crown that controls zoom and scrolling with a twist. Oh, and it will tell time too -- allowing users to choose between multiple watch faces. Apple said it will sell three versions of the Apple Watch, including a sports model and an 18 carat gold model called the "Apple Watch Edition." The Apple Watch also comes in two sizes, one slightly smaller than the other. The Apple Watch will debut with many third-party apps that make use of the watch's various features, including a Starwood Hotels (HOT) app that lets you unlock your door with your wrist. Apple's new watch requires an iPhone, but it will work with the iPhone 5, 5C and 5S in addition to the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. It will start at $349 and will be available in early 2015. "It'll be worth the wait," said Cook. Next to a 39mm Patek Phillipe....from Hodinkee.

I "tried" to watch that brutal live stream, but it kept failing. In any case, I get that it will tell time, measure "fit bit" types of things, but it requires you to have your iPhone with you to utilize a lot of the functionality. So, in this iteration, I don't see a reason to wear it in lieu of a traditional watch (not that I'd do that at this state anyhow) when I usually am staring at my phone anyway.
Visually, I do find it engaging. Looking forward to holding one and reading up on it more.

Well, my stepdaughter has the iphone5 and our family just spent 3 days at a resort. Watching her access the phone for all kinds of info, showing photos, checking google dictionary....amazing what it does! This morning I read about the iwatch and the need for an iphone to go with it.... I am too old to actually use all the functions but admire how Apple products work. The iwatch looks good, voice activation ability etc etc! Cool product. Article says it STARTS at $349....

Reddit is terribly cynical, and it can be very disheartening. BUT.. it cuts both ways. Here's another post in /r/Apple yelling at the yellers. Here's the opening post: "Wow, the hate on the watch is insane on this sub. I get the feeling that a lot of you guys will never be happy with anything that's made any more since the expectations for products is now insane especially with the hype trains that run before any product launch. I remember when the 5 came out and people were pissed that it didn't have an infared keyboard that projected onto a flat surface. It's a little thick, cause its full of gear to do all the shit you wanted it to do. If it was thin and beautiful but missed some features you'd be pissed at that too. It's got the digital crown, because not only do you expect apple to do things a little differently but it actually makes sense to make small adjustments to menus and scrolling. It's square. Because you can fit more shit on a square screen and apps translate well onto it. Same for the iphone. "The antenna bands are TOO BIG". But when the 4 came out with its slim antenna bands the complaint was "I lose signal when I hold it like this, why don't they fix this??". Y'all need to step back and look at what they revealed. It's everything you wanted: Larger iPhone with 1080p screen. An iphone with a screen over 5" with better battery life New digital wallet Health app that is actually used A smart watch that is also a digital wallet. This is everything people were wanting and you're all pissed about it."

Looks like a pretty capable little device. Not big on the aesthetics, but not too bad for Gen. 1. A number of novel applications are pretty sure to amaze. With an army of developers racing for market share, we shouldn't have to wait long to see some of them.

If i wasn't addicted to "old school" watches plus owned an iPhone i would jump at these, if it was to be my only watch. Same for the round Samsung for Android watch. But, with 20 plus watches in the box i couldn't see myself shelling out for these. They certainly have their place in the market and all the iSheep will be all over it. As has been mentioned above. A very clean and modernist design for a first Gen. I realy do like the two bracelet options above. I wonder if there will be lug adapters for them lol!
