Very nice examples Yorkie - the condition of the orange dialled model is superb, whilst the other is an unusual design. I really like the Cosmotrons, and the earlier X8 electronics - many of them are high beat so have a nice sweep, and the design of the movement minimises wear on the moving parts. Citizen were first to retail an electric / electronic watch in Japan, in 1966 - it also won a design award: They were capable of chronometer standard accuracy: This 5800 one runs at 43,200 bph: The world's first titanium cased watch was an X8: And the fastest beat of all was in this one, running at 360hz, this is actually a tuning fork movement though, which Citizen badged as a Cosmotron (GX): Stephen

Those things are absolutely stunning.
I have an X8 in parts in my hoard and it makes me want to crack it out and make some progress on it.
Thanks for sharing!

This is an excellent site for electronics , plenty of info and pics. I have also used them to service a couple of my watches and all was good. electric-watches.co.uk/

Yes, I'm a fan. None of mine are Japanese, though (Accutron and Omega). On a technical note: the Bulova Accuquartz and Omega Megasonic are not "electronic". The previously noted electric-watches-uk site makes the distinction clearly.

I've used them too - for Cosmotron and Hisonic (tuning fork) movements. All good for me as well. Stephen

No Japanese ones but a couple if Swiss... This one has the ETA/ESA 9154 module but there is a broken jewel on the second wheel so it doesn't run very well This one was a gift but I was unable to find replacement parts for the fine wire trigger that the balance wheel activate. I keep looking but have never even seen another of these watches. This is a Timex quartz controlled electronic balance wheel model. It works fine but only gets about a year from a battery

I've got a sad looking "disco" Cosmotron which came in a job lot. It has a holographic dial and is a bugger to photograph. It's complete just very dirty, unloved and needs a crystal.
