I posted this WABI 6309 as I called it yesterday on the WRUW thread some liked, some didn't. I changed the insert today to a nice one from a 7549-7010 and was wondering what you all thought. Do you prefer the BEFORE pic very well used insert, or the AFTER pic with the "more" pristine insert? The watch is sound, movement keeps great time, gaskets are new, as is the crystal (thanks Spencer), sealing surfaces are very good, and the crown has a good 4 turns. So it is just a matter of looks. Please post your WABIed examples too ... Best, Ross BEFORE ... AFTER ...

I for one dont care for any WABI at all but seeing as how hard it is to find a decently priced 6309-7040/7049 I would be willing to accept one with WABI

If you could find an insert somewhere between the two shown the watch would be perfect.

I do have a decent all original one ... just like that honest used look This one (my "good" one) has a little patina to the markers but not what I would call WABI ...

I am of the very strong belief that the more a certain model that is discussed, hyped about it raises the price. A year or so ago you could find 6309s for $100.00- $150.00 less then what they are selling for now! The Bay is full of them so its not a watch thats hard to locate. Granted...... its an Iconic watch but worth the current asking prices. Take for example this one......... Its not I know a diver and not to everyones liking but try to find one in this decent of condition. You rarely see them listed. If all of a sudden they became talked about as often as the 6309s I'd bet almost anything the price on them would skyrocket!

I'd say the problem with the second one is that it's mismatched. I prefer the first one since it matches the dial and hands.

I needs to be an iconic & desirable model, and unfortunately, that one will never be either.

It may be neither of those but it is a scarce model. I still believe the 6309s are way overpriced, desirable or not.

Dear OP, please put one of Spencer's 1:1 crystals on that watch, it'll look much better.

Hi. It all depends on the environment it be living in. If it will be bumped, knocked or scratched, leave the worn bezel on there. If its to be a desk diver or a drawer queen then put the new stuff on there. In any case if you are wearing it , most people don't look at your watch - only you.
As far as the price debate goes, that will go on from week to week. Phillipines this week is $300 for crappy ones when you factor in shipping.
Cheers Phil

Dear OP, please put one of Spencer's 1:1 crystals on that watch, it'll look much better. You can call me Ross if you like I got this Type III from Spencer and I quite like the look it gives the dial. It is a little difficult to photograph, but I think it looks better in person. I do have one of Spencer's 1:1 (I think I got it from Jonathan), so I am not using the Type III out of necessity. The second watch I posted is using one though I think. Best, Ross
