Anyone ever buy or MOD a watch that looks great in pictures but you just can't bring yourself to wear for one reason or another? I loved my blue Soxa photos but wore the watch twice and sold it. Not sure why it didn't jive with me.

Hi, sorry to hear your disappointment. That sucks. May I ask if you only wore it with the olive strap in the picture? If yes then maybe that's where the problem is. No offense but I think the olive strap shouldn't be worn with the watch. The mod you have (or had) is actually quite nice. In my opinion it would have gone real well with this particular striped Nato: Or maybe a dark blue colored leather, carbon or canvas strap with some orange stitching. A strap can make or break a watch imho, and maybe that's what happened in this case?

Yep hard to love em all. Grey or blue Nato might have been another option

Maybe it was the minute hand . . . that would have bugged me.

The watch would really click with me if it did not have that orange hand.

Ah, see that would have been cool with me coz if I was on a dive that dial combo would have been really visible. Also, bumming on the beach between dives would have been cool too. Would have put it on a more colourful strap though. Maybe this one? Seiko Style but with a flick off flair?

Yep, happened to me as well. Was looking at this Orca for quite a while, liked it a lot on one hand but wasn't completely sure it would fit me. Let myself convince by the reviews saying 'If you're not sure, just bite the bullet, and you'll love it!' I have worn it on occasion, but always find myself not being happy, and changing to another watch shortly after. Still like the look of it, but just not on my wrist. Attachments:

I agree totally about the Orca.......... I HAD to have one when they were once so popular and finally tracked a used but in excellent condition one! I sold it the very next day! I hated it! Why I bought it in the 1st. place I'll never know!

Change the strap. Switch to a stainless bracelet.

Bro, it happens to us all. Excitement when buying, opening the package, then when we don it on the wrist - disappointment.
I've had watches that don't sit on my wrist well, ones that the color and texture or features just don't float my boat - so I sell them quickly and move on.
All part of the hobby I guess.
BTW, I your watch in question in the photo too !

I had a Seiko Spork which I thought sucked once I got it in person. Surprising because I also have a BFK which is very similar and I love that one. The proportions of the Spork are all off....larger diameter dial and crystal, wide angle chapter insert and skinnier bezel insert. I also had a SeaGull which was very similar to a JLC Master Control. SeaGull looked great in pictures, even forum real life pictures, but in the hand the quality was atrocious. I put it right back in the box and back it went the next day.

It happened to me with all 3 Seamaster Blue Bond pieces. I look at the fotos, pull the trigger right away, but I can wear once only, then gets sold. And I lost $3000 with these once on the wrist trials!
And the straps... They change the look of the watches significantly.
