John, continue the project; just dedicate it to someone or something else. I know your intentions were good and your heart was in the right place; unfortunately sometimes things just don't work out. I have one of Tiger's TST cases as well but never thought about making it a tribute to anyone. The most logical person to pay homage to with this project might be John Bentley(TheTigerUK) as he is the one who engineered these pieces Key Pon Truckin The only thing John supplied was a badly altered case. A lot of members gave to this, some guys who are on this forum not just John. Well what is the more serious crime, machining a 6309-729x case to accept a shroud (I won't countenance the sacrifice of a -704x case) or dropping a 6309 movement into 7549-7010? I used to want to do just that but these days if I ever found myself in possession of a 7549-7010 I would restore it and cherish it for it's own quartz majesty. The TST lets me have a 6309 Tuna in a low profile style. Low profile as compared to the 6159-7010 I will probably never have...sigh.

John, I say you should go ahead with the build since you've put a lot of energy into it. I doubt any of us who contributed parts did so on the basis that it should be a tribute watch. How about you make it a tribute to your friends on WristSushi and the SCWF. Perhaps you could get the two logos engraved on the back instead.

Well i am not going to stop....that would be foolish on my part to do so...i just wish i had been told how much he despised them...so never worry...i am more than glad to make this the best TST i can...life gives us obstacles all the time...it is how we take them and overcome them that is most important...i want to thank every one who has posted here....without accurate information...i can not do the best job i can do...i want to thank everyone here who helps others...does whatever they can to help those in need...we are all here for the love of these amazing time pieces...and that is why i wanted to make this watch to begin with...anyone can buy a watch off the shelf...brand new...making it unique in your own way is what most of us will do in some way....i am very much a purist in most things...but i love that creative side to come out sometimes to show others and myself what can be done...that is why i have tried to use as many genuine parts as possible...God Bless and thank you all....John

John, the watch you've created is a product of your imagination and hard work. Be proud of it. It was good of you to pay respect to Jonathan, but if it's not a fitting tribute then never mind, you weren't to know, it certainly hasn't done any harm. What's important is that you have put time and energy into creating something worthwhile, that gives you pleasure, and you've learnt some lessons along the way. By all means continue to develop the design if you see fit, but don't be pressured into changing anything just to please anybody who voices a criticism.

Do what makes you happy john. From what I've heard about Jonathan that would be all he wanted at the end of the day and to be remember in the community for the efforts he put into keeping vintage Seiko's ticking away and water tight for us all. That's what the original competition was about. It was to help members who knew & cared deeply about Jonathan to grieve and to also help them remember by fitting Jonathan's parts to another watch that they all contributed too. There was no specifics given to how it should look. Also for the record I was not being mean about Tigers alterations it's how he put it himself to me. He said it's a bit rough as it's a prototype case.
There was no intention in any way to make this an official Sweedefreak watch or to dishonor his names.

Nor do I think anyone thinks you were dissing Tiger. You were speaking as a purist and that is ok. There is definitely room for the TST in the realms of 'mods'. As noted, Tiger honoured me with one and I think it is as close as I will ever get to a real Tuna. That is ok because Tiger's mod wears nicely on my wrist where a true Tuna might be too tall for comfort. I hate things that catch my cuffs. As a side note...I'm willing to bet that when Tiger is gone; he will likely be remembered by his TST. Good people leave legacies...wish I had something to leave behind
