Total impulse buy. $45 below retail, new in the box. I had to have it.
I collect late 90's G-Shock DW-6900's of all stripes. I enjoy the hunt and modding some that are totally beat up to look new. I prefer their smaller size to the new, larger, more "plasticky" Transformers look.
This is a new release from about a month ago paying tribute to the old DW-6900's. So for the money (@ $80) it was a no brainer for my collection. Plus, I love orange, and I like the little detail along with the sage green and smoked gray translucent case/strap..

So I finally got this one. I missed out on about 5 of them, ranging from $350 to $1500 (that one looked almost NOS) Looks legit, not sure about the hands, which, although look correct, are not as faded as the rest of the yellow on dial and chapter ring. I think I got over excited and focused on the serial and completely blanked on the faded yellow. Not sure if I'll keep it as is or make it a 0004 sunset mod. ( I do have a case in my spares) Anyhoo, first watch since covid. ( kept myself in the game by getting a few straps and bracelets) Rob

I was watching that guy also, very nice catch I snagged his brother a bit ago, still waiting for it to hit the warehouse

This $15.50 working bargain in barf condition .... Became this ... will paint the “G” on the button in black enamel. I saw it’s potential. I have a gray NATO and black lug adapters. Put to use spare parts. Not too shabby for the $$$ invested!

This runs but supposedly has a day wheel changeover problem. It was pretty cheap for a '70s Grand Quartz, and the 48-series is pretty easy to work on anyway. Already have one of these, but I am sucker for a deal.
I know not everyone is into quartz, but if you don't own one of these...you should. There really isn't any difference in quality between a 1975 Seiko Grand Quartz and a 2020 Grand Seiko quartz.
First pic is the one still in Japan, second is the one I already have.

A clean set of hands or a reluming and it'll be brand new! Hopefully that little dial stain under the date will clean up. That is a fantastic example. I'm jelly. I have the black dial but blue is my favorite.

I'm all kinds of excited! My last foggy crystal gamble turned out to have a bunch of dial spots and I was really worried about this one.

A Seiko Technical Guide. Lord knows what's in it other than the one picture of 2403A movement and it was cheapish at £10 Perhaps someone can enlighten me as to what other cases/movements to expect. I did ask but got nowt back so that's one star for sellers communication.

I’m not at home this weekend so can’t skim mine to see what’s in there but to be fair everything I have I already had digitally anyway.

So normally I'd NEVER spend this amount of money on a G-Shock, but it is on sale at Macy's, plus I get 12% cash back from Rakuten, plus I had $10 in Macy's money, plus I sold a few random things on eBay and money sitting in the PayPal balance; so my final price was $0.00 I think I'll actually make money when my cash back comes
It's the limited edition G-Shock GMW-B5000CS launched in June 2020. I saw it in a few cool posts on Instagram. I haven't seen one in the wild and I don't think many people have one as they're not crazy enough to spend that kind of money
It's "...a full metal luxury square model featuring a laser-carved grid design on the case and band. The GMW-B5000CS-1 is shock-resistant and water-resistant to 200 meters. Other features include Tough Solar power, Multi-Band 6 radio-controlled time adjustment, Bluetooth smartphone link, and STN LCD display."
The watch is coated in a black ion plating and then a laser is used to carve out the grid pattern revealing the stainless steel surface showing from below the black IP coating.
I think it's totally cool looking and reminds me of the movie Tron from when I was a kid. It has all the features I love, screw down case back, no plastic resin parts, and will be maintenance free. I love that they incorporated Tough Solar with Bluetooth since it's a battery hog. Great for dress or casual. Very smart and unique.

tritto maybe I can put it on a contrasting stitched leather strap like a Tuna dive watch
Here is the full metal with a black sport jacket and white dress shirt. I think The Tron with the same colors will look nice dressed with this. But we are digressing
