New member, my 6309-7049 recently acquired and soon to be sent for service. I have been reading through the weak point of the crown and stem and was just wondering how you can avoid this risk or at least limit the chance of it happening. The third picture is with the crown screwed down and there is a small gap from the case, is this normal. My skx crown fits flush with the case. Thank you in advance. Best

Wearing mine now - new member from the UK -21:30 UK time
There are so many on ebay with after market dials and bezels, you have to be really careful if you want to pick a "complete" 6309 up

Not sure what your read about the crown/stem being a week point; it is a two piece stem but it's as robust as the one piece models. That little gave does not look abnormal when compared to any of the watches I have. The important thing is, how fresh is the crown gasket? Old gaskets wil have hardened up and not be particularly water resistant.

Isn't there a danger that the threads can be stripped - is that what is being referred to.
should the threads be lubricated ever so often to prevent this.
I believe that once the crown has been pulled out to set the time, it should be possible to turn the crown two or three full turns before it locks.

Most know they are so but the odd one or two don't...or so they say. 99% fakes are now common place. The only genuine part being the movement. You must cast your net wider to 'maybe' find a good un. Local ads are sometimes good but beware the rogues also know this. As for the crown locking, it's more on the 2 turns side if you count the useful pitches of the thread on the stem tube.

Cleaning threads - the waxed dental floss and toothpick method worked really well

By far my favorite Seiko. Have been in the market for a good specimen for a while. These look fantastic. Perfect diver crown size. Keep the pics coming.

Hi all, new member here. Recently found myself drawn to Seiko divers having never had much interest in them. Decided to pick up a beaten up 6309-729A ,advertised as non-running, I found for a very good price. I've a feeling the dial is probably aftermarket, but it runs nicely out of the envelope and I've really enjoyed wearing it for the last few weeks on a cheap NATO strap. hosting imagesExpecting to be told it's a feiko at any moment 🤣
