Thanks for the info!!! I am trying to find a junk watch with a 6309 movement. And whereas I find them on eBay I realize that I would have no idea on how to remove the movement from the watch case. I also have no idea on how to remove the hands. Will this discussion cover those two procedures? What tools will I need to remove the movement from the case (I do have a case back wrench) and the hands and dial from the movement and will I need a movement holder? We will cover the basics of removing the stem/crown; getting the movement out of the case; removing the hands and liberating the dial. Then we will focus on the movement smiley-dance001

I haven't located a project watch yet either, I better get a move on. It isn't critical if all the servicers don't have their sacrificial victims right at the beginning. The project tutorials will always be here for anyone and everyone to follow at their own pace. But it will be more fun to see pictures of exploded watches and questions like 'WTF is this thing and where did it come from?'. Of course, I and Dan and Spencer will always be here to answer questions along the way or even later for those late beginners. This is going to be fun and I suspect there are going to be way more successes than dead soldiers(even those can and will be resurrected if desired) woohoo-dancing-banana-smiley-emoticon I've even built a steady platform to take my macro shots so folks aren't trying to clean the fuzz off their screens laugh1.gif Hopefully my pics will be sufficiently sharp enough; well lit and with enough detail that everyone will be able to compare mine to theirs. As mentioned; I will attempt to add indicators and text to the photos so that we don't have people guessing which gear we're working on smiley-cool11 Lastly and not the least important; I hope everyone will ask their questions; no matter how absurd they think they might be. Remember; we all started somewhere and didn't have a clue. There are no stupid or dumb ass questions...only; on occasion; some dumb ass answers embarrassed-smiley-face I will try very hard not to disappoint a176

I agree, it is much more fun to follow along while it's happening...and I will not doubt encounter those WTF moments laugh1.gif
