Now I know the prices of 6105s have been going up, along with most other vintage Seikos divers, but take a look at this one: 371336707539. Definitely lacking the least bit of originality, and though it's modded (not so great IMO), I don't think the price can be justified at all.

With AM dial, hands, bezel insert and likely crown as well as the case back; this isn't even close to an original. The case has been reground and polished. The watch no longer has the original or any 6105 movement. This is an AM parts box compilation. At the very best, the case might be worth $400 with the rest adding nothing and actually taking away from the watch. I say let the fools bid themselves crazy. Whoever wins; deserves the fleecing he/she gets.

I cannot believe all the people bidding on this piece of s#@t. There must be a bunch of shills combined with a bunch of blind morons. May they all rot in the belly of the sarlacc in The Great Pit of Carkoon.

Holy crap, it just went for $1540. Assuming the buyer pays, that has to be the priciest 6105 I've seen on the bay and it's not even remotely close to original.

Ha ha. No last second bidding frenzy on that one. I had previously considered the seller a reasonable dealer in AM Seiko parts. Now I have to question the price of any watch they sell at auction. $1540 is beyond credibility for an AM-filled 6105.

I think the seller is pretty reasonable in his descriptions of his items, plus he answers questions pretty honestly. Seems to me like a novice buyer really liked this one and went overboard.

There were three different buyers that bid over $1000. Even if the seller wasn't responsible, it's hard to believe there are several people willing to throw that sort of cash at it. What has the Seiko world come to?

Its Interesting that in the last 6 months the seller has had 12 Neutrals and 6 Negatives - and you see in the various the following in feedback comments: "copy" "franken watch" "badly refurbished" "broken" "not working" ... and some-one still is prepared to drop $1540, and that there were 47 bids??? and that the bidding was 'driven' by two ebayer's. Wouldn't a wise man be thinking - Run don't Walk!!! (in the opposite direction, and keep your wallet closed)

Maybe the winning bidder liked the GMT hand and the display case back! In fairness to the seller, it does seem to be accurately described. Cleverly though . . . "Authentic as described". I think I'll take my Typhoon II . . . . paid less than a 1/3, got the better 6R15 (IIRC) movement and while though a homage, it's a new watch!

Several years ago Timothy Patrick from the old SCWF paid a little over $1500 for a truly NOS 6105 that had everything with it, boxes, papers, hang tags, etc. I quess it is just inflation that a cobbled mess like this one can pull that same money today

No surprises. "Sensible buying" is an oxymoron when it comes to ebay. :imok:

No surprises. "Sensible buying" is an oxymoron when it comes to ebay. :imok: True, but as much as I hate the place for all the garbage I've seen there, I have got a lot of good deals on all-original watches on the bay. Just have to spend some time and effort sieving through all the trash.
