I have one in pieces at the moment, it’s my first and currently only 7548. I stripped the hands the other day ready to relume as they were too gritty for my taste. Like you cobrajet25 it has a broken screw stuck in the plate where the battery strap should be (but isn’t). I’ve tried to get it out and tried to use allum but no joy. Short of buying a Bergeon screw extractor I’m gonna need a new plate.
Yeah, you can just swap in an entire 7546 movement minus the third wheel bridge and circuit block. Trainwheels, keyless works, coil, everything else is the same as a 7546. I messed with trying to get the screw out for a while but then realized I was doing more damage to the plate in the process.
Much easier to just replace everything that wasn't 7548-specific as unit.
Agreed. I still want to get the screw out though, it's annoying me. The good thing is that surprisingly, although there were no screws (well, technically about half a screw) and no battery spring, the washer was still there; held in place by dirt. I've made a battery spring while I look for one (the Pulsars on English eBay are mine ok?!) and bought the screws off Bry on ToF. I think the PCB may be shot as well, but the coil is good. I have a 7546 in my basket in Japan, I just need to get around to adding a couple of other bits to make an order up and shipping it.

No coke for me but modern. One of their cheapest options, if not maybe *the* cheapest option, but a little cracker as an entry level mechanical imho.

First time on the wrist is this 0703-6010 which must be one of the first they made. The Elnix first appeared in the 1974 catalogue. This one was made in April 1973. Very nice. Really like the HM hands.

I’ve seen fair few over the years although hadn’t paid that much attention, zenith sounds right but definitely others too. Ones I’ve seen just had different colour on the minute recorder subdial for the first three minutes.

Update, Well it's all in tact and everything works as it should. SEIKO logo in place and the cranked hour 24 hour hand are good. The only issue is the crude on the rotor. The case back had not been off for a long while (tight). No corrosion around the case back seal. Superb! Looking forward to the restoration thread....

This little funny guy today. I’d love a real Chaykin but it’s way above my pay grade.

Same round here, more smiling and nodding than before. People also say thank you when you make a wide berth when passing each other on an exercise outing. And the camaraderie on the Thursday night thank you to front line staff is good too, everyone in the street clapping and ringing bells and bashing saucepans and quite a few stay in the street afterwards and have a chat from across our front gardens or across the road.

Put this one on this morning and I’ve noticed since that it’s losing time in a major way. Down about 15s in the last two hours. Oh well, another project...

1979's 9923-7020 out of my last Japanese box needed a fresh battery. Working on a 7019 from the same batch that needs a bit more care. Beautiful.

Daily exercise with the family earlier. And a bit of old school analogue fun. Think I bought this in about 1980? Got to 179 today.
