You've got one of the greatest things in the world: a Seiko diver. And at the price you paid, there's nothing that isn't awesome about it.
I'd say it's late 90. Looks to be complete. I'm not familiar enough with these to know what good looks like, but it feels correct to me. I had a pepsi version of this one - same curve-top insert. I'd have to look at it to understand why the bezel isn't staying on, but I'd be willing to bet that new seals and a full case clean would see you clear. The movement on these isn't too bad to replace I don't think, but again an inspection will tell us what's really going on.

You've got a fiver less in your wallet than you did earlier ! Seriously though, not an expert but I don't think they ever fetch much on the bay. Looks like it has potential for a mod maybe? Or just stick a NATO on it & donate it to kingrat

Coz it cave someone good service for maybe years. Maybe they gave it to someone & they heartlessly gave it away. Maybe it belonged to someone & they passed away & relatives gave it to the junk shop. Who knows. But call me sentimental. I think it deserves better. For every 6105 (& I love mine) and MM300 (& I'd love one) there must be hundreds of these in a draw, cupboard or junk shop that just get over-looked. "Oh, it's just an old crappy watch!" they think. Well not this one. This one's getting a new movement, this ones getting new gaskets. This one is going to DIVE AGAIN!!! Because it deserves it. And I'm a bit drunk & if I say it on here I will feel obligated to do it when I sober up tomorrow!

Good for you dad. Sorry if my post made you think I was dismissing your watch,(strange sense of humour) I wasn't & would happily have parted with more than a fiver for it. Good luck making her shipshape again, I'm sure I'll be even more jealous when you post some pics in the future. thunbsup.gif

Jason,
Those 5H series quartz divers were the intended replacements for the 7548 and 7c43 series. It wasn't a high end time piece...I think they ran about $200 usd new retail
They were produced from mid '89 to late 1996. I briefly owned one (Pepsi version) and I took it diving with me on more than a few occasions. Never had any trouble with it and eventually gifted it to a friend whose citizen watch died during a dive trip.
They never seen to fetch much on auctions and I'm sure it's overlooked by most but they're solid watches. The movements don't lend themselves to servicing well but 5H caliber donor movements can be found in dress watches if yours doesn't fire up after a battery change
Jonathan should have gaskets and a crystal for it should you decide to clean it up. The bezel inserts are next to impossible to locate however.
Nice catch for the money
Best Shawn

If a battery sorts it I will keep the honest wabi and just change the gaskets & Crystal. Needs a good DNA removal. Anyone know if the strap is original? Do we think the keeper is "home-made?"

The strap is original but the keeper is definitely a hand made job
The watch also looks to be missing its click springs which are similar to the one used on skx007 divers

First things first. Just popped the back. Nice & clean, no corrosion. So tomorrow will go get another battery. If that fires it up, will pop on a Nato, wear it to work & than will look at sorting the rest out.
Thanks every one. Stay Tuned. laugh1.gif

Hey Jason,
For a fiver, WFT . . . . where else can you get a 200M diver for that price? Even if it costs you another 50 pounds to get it back in tip top shape, I'd say it's a bargain!
Congrats on a cool snag . . . . keep us updated on her progress.

Yup these 5h26/SHC03x divers are pretty good IMO. Movement isn't mostly plastic yet like the 7Nxx series. Like what has already been said by Shawn, bezels are almost impossible to find. Yours is pretty good compared to a lot I've seen for sale. I have seen someone on WUS however, who has successfully used an aftermarket sub insert.

Very nice I had the Pepsi one for short while. I liked the thinner case and curved bezel insert compared to the 7548 and Auto Divers. They also had the 7N36 models after the 5H models in the same case. I may have to look at getting another one some day.

All of that foreign jargon and you didn't use "Muppet"? (my favorite overseas slang term)

cheering-clapping-smiley-emoticonFantastic find there Jason! Much like the others here I too had the Pepsi version for a while. Great price too. I regret selling mine now. Be sure to document the clean up process for us.

Awesome find! Get it running, and install a new set get the seals...I'll expect to see it on your wrist while diving, sometime in the near future.
