There are more and more of these repro dials on the market. I wouldn't mind but folk are putting them into badly refinished cases and trying to sell it as NOS. I have seen both yellow & blue dials with no markings, resist markings and proof markings. So be very careful and take plenty of time to compare anything that catches your eye with a known good pogue. The course turning on the sub dial, the numerials look too thick and the lume looks too flat. Also I've seen them where they got the lume wrong totally and put it where the chrome strip is meant to be on the indices. The cases are always refinished on a lathe with these watches too and not with the correct tooling.
Simple rule if in doubt ask on the forum before spending your hard earned dosh and finding out later.

This is what they should look like. Much more refined.

That was a rather nice example igniferroque Regret selling it. Getting hard to find proofs. Noticed the infamous beejoo on evilBay has jumped on the repro dial band wagon. Must have made his day when these started appearing on the market. Notice the funky colour and flat lume. If this guy took any more meat off the cases they'd be classed as a ball!

I also have seen that, just like the 6N3147 fake bullhead kits there appear to have emerged some completely counterfeit 6139-600X kits, with fake cases, dials and casebacks, though I can't remember the serial number on them.
I think they've been sold by sellers like samlnware, etc. who specialize in that crap.
Also, a lot of new fake dials like the champagne Kakume have been popping up. The fakers are getting craftier, unfortunately. I saw a fake 6105 dial that was almost completely indistinguishable from the original.

Those dials are looking really good now. I'll buck the trend here and say if the watch is a wreck, sometimes a fake dial can make them wearable again. I know it's a matter of conscience, selling them with the dial undisclosed. Here's a real one -

Yes please even with the excellent buyer's guide I for one appreciate "WS members" real life pictures. They all help when you are in the market for a Gold version.

The dials are repro's not fakes until someone stuffs them into a case and claims they are genuine. They are getting a lot better and harder to spot. It's the lume that gives them away and the course turning of the sub dials base metal. I'll dig out some buyer beware photos and put some examples on this thread.
I've been dealing with these sort of people for years in the antique clock business. In fact they are solely responsible for me having to close it down and move to watches instead. It's hard to make a decent living in the antiques game if your business policy is total honesty. If your a dodgy type though it's a breeze.
