What is the story of these models? I almost never see one for sale and an image search on Google only ever seems to turn up Ramon's wrecks, that's where my 3 came from. Were they only released in Asia? They are a nice small watch and I can't figure out why you don't see more of them. Max

Quite possibly. Only a few of the 5 range make it out of Asia through official channels.
The 5 range probably has 200+ models.

I doubt that they ever made it out of the western side of the Pacific. Ramon's treasure chest is testament to these watches having lived hard lives in the HHC environment. I don't hesitate grabbing these when he has clean looking dials and crystals because I know that the movements are easily repaired or replaced. This is one of his treasures from the deep... I sent it to Spencer for a spa treatment and it came back with a new 4r36 or the TMI equivalent in it and an OEM bracelet correct to the model! Needless to say, I really couldn't care less what became of the 7s36 it has in it This is another one of his treasures... Unfortunately it had a beautiful whistle clean movement that went into another watch. I still have the case, dial and hands so it may live again on day. This was the first restoration of one of these 5 Sports that I did... The watch was the subject of a complete movement restoration article that I did on another forum several years ago. It still runs beautifully today and as you can see, the dial, hands and case are in pretty good shape for having lived at the bottom of the see BTW, these are the perfect tinkering watches for those wanting to build watch repair skills. They are still relatively inexpensive and there are still a lot of them out there to mine for spares!

Some nice watches you have there Pete, pleased to see I am not the only one to rescue them from oblivion, I haven't re-powered any at this time, I managed to get the 7S36 motors going again, I bought 4 of them and managed to restore 3 with one movement beyond repair and I cracked case. The trick is trying to choose ones with good dials, sometimes hard if the crystals are badly scratched, they were my first entry into grinding and re polishing crystals, these were a good subject as the high crystal protrusion above the bezel that led to the excessive scratching also made it possible to restore them without removing from the case. I was intrigued as to why they never seen to turn up anywhere but Ramon's site, and I wondered as to their target market, most of mine had what looks like an Arabic day wheel, though with my great command of language it could also be Thai. Thanks for your reply. Max

SeikoUSA web site denies its existence. So there you go, non-USA model.
