This video series I believe was filmed in the late 60's to attract European migrants here. Maybe half of the stuff in the Adelaide video is still there. Certainly the river and a lot of the leisure areas are. Not sure about the other cities. It's a fun watch. www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLCAD05A7F696C34B9

It's a fun watch. www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLCAD05A7F696C34B9The US had a similar video or 2 going back 95 years. It was EVERYTHING that came out of Hollywood. Which is why everyone (OK maybe 50%) in Mexico feels the need to jump the border and well you know the rest. Anyone remember when people got dressed up to fly on an airplane? Why? Because it was a privilege not a you owe me. Now any hobo or bogan with $100 can fly one way across the country instead of taking a 3 day Greyhound bus trip. Anywho one of the reasons I USED TO like watching COPS is they highlighted all of the sights and scenery you won't find in the tourist brochures for any said you thought "It was a respectable place to visit". I'll leave the USED TO now FTP out of this conversation. OK back on topic after a brief intermission. The early James Bond movies from the Sean Connery era (since I wasn't there at the time to provide any contradiction) seem to epitomize the best of the best that society had to offer at the time in terms of fashion, style, cars, beautiful women, no metro men, etc to act as time capsule for future generations. I'll leave the political and social and economic rant out of the discussion since our country (and I am sure most others worldwide) has been going downhill since the late 1940's

Huntsman spiders are generally pretty timid, they're quick though. This doesn't happen much these days but back in the 80's and 90's it was common to go to a friends house and they'd have one living inside on the ceiling or at the top of the wall. Bearing in mind this was when houses with 16-20ft ceilings were pretty common. Because they are timid they never really caused much of a problem. They dealt with flies and stuff so were seen as helpful. It's incredibly rare to see them catch a mouse. In fact, at the time, it was said that it was good luck as they tend to prefer to live in places with good air quality. Many houses here now are dogboxes with air conditioning that aren't well suited to the climate. How about THIS creature?

How about this one that popped up on my Facebook feed today. That's the head of a broom this Huntsman is sitting on, which means this baby's body is probably at least 8cm and leg span probably 20cm.

My son has spent the last 6 months in Australia and you have to bear in mind he is an English Rugby Union player.Whilst to date he has had a bonding session involving swimming in a pond with a crocodile (no hassle apparently as it was a freshie) and has worked on a banana farm where he got close and personal with a snake the aussies just call the brown snake (google it ) he has been warmly embraced by the locals in Queensland and the NT
Our gripe is we have lost our son to you Southern Hemisphere cousins as the most dangerous thing in Australia is the women so it looks like I will not be getting my son back as he contemplates a Rugby contract down south as well as taking on a sheila
