Warning disturbing content! Anyone who has pulled down a g shock will be familiar with the following: 1- seemingly innocent g shock- I'd just installed the battery and decided to document. 2-DNA city. 3- it gets worse. 4- time for a dunk. 5-2 min of ultrasonic. 6- vomit round 1 time to rinse. 7- 2 x 2 min in a cheap ultrasonic. And the result. Cam

How can you NOT smell that? Probably a lot of luck. My sense of smell is pretty stuffed!

Yep - been there. I bought this off a forum a while back, resized the bracelet and wore it. I was confident that I'd be able to get some spare parts from Casio to make it look a little less worn, but when I stripped it down I was 'shocked' with what I found..... yeah - I'd been wearing that. Some new parts and some serious cleaning resulted in this much better I clean every watch now before I wear it.

Yikes, this thread gave me the shivers! :imok: And it isn't just G-Shocks, it's metal bracelets and NATO straps as well. I remember some line where Hannibal mentions the smell of the waiter's watchband? - Thomas

Leather bands can be the worst, would never wear one on a work watch, they absorb sweat and stink to high heaven, at least with the metal band if you wear your watch in the shower (always did for 50 years and never had one leak) it washes most of the days gunk out.

I freaked out at the junk under that g shock, so I decided to clean my mud man solar- it will be a while before that battery needs changing. Not bad exterior. But it has been my watch for 3 tough mudders, beach and garden/ yard work. Was not too bad, but well on its way to grossness! Out of interest, I was surprised to find screws not spring bars and it was pretty easy to separate the case for cleaning. I expect they planned for this one to be cleaned up.

I believe most G-Shock models can have the case/band replaced if damaged or worn out, sets in different colours sell on Ebay.
One reason the screws would make things easier I assume ..

For months I've been on the fence about buying a G-shock .. maybe, possibly. Yesterday I pulled the trigger on one, thanks guys. Even your grundgy G-Shock images didn't put me off.

I would imagine that if they are worn by an actual outdoorsman, that's pretty common place.
