I just nabbed this pro track for next to nothing because the module was dead it still has the swing tags on it started up with 5 min exposure to light but I am waiting for it to exit power save mode. My questions are 1-how long will it take for a decent charge and 2- what happens to the barometer and altimeter measurements if you take it under the water?

Cam If you haven't already seen it, this appears to be the instruction manual for your watch - which by looking at its face appears to be in power saving mode (PS on the display) support.casio.com/storage/en/manual/pdf/EN/009/qw3258.pdf As for your second question - I haven't got a clue David

It came with the manual. It appears that I may be waiting a while to get it charged. Manual says 5 min which worked to get it to start up in overcast direct light. To charge to level the next level it may take hours in direct sun. Since it was overcast today and tonight it's night I'll be waiting a while. Hope the capacitor is ok.

Depending on how long and how many times the secondary power cell has been discharged; it could be hours or even days to reach a full charge. Just be aware that it won't have the same reserve it did when new. The fact that it is taking a charge and is working means that even with a shortened reserve this watch should be fun to wear. Does this model have the really cool compass display?

[quote author="@penguinbce" source="/post/132406/thread" timestamp="1477682637" Does this model have the really cool compass display? [/quote] Yeah it has a dual layer LCD so the compass hovers over the top. I got to play with it last night after a few hours under a halogen lamp. So I got to play with last night. I'll write review later as I don't think there is much on this forum about the Protrek. My favorite feature so far is the barometer screen on the left hand side that graphs changes in pressure to predict changes in weather. (If your altitude is constant)

I have multiple Casio Pro Trek's....including a couple of the newer PRW-6000's. Leave it under a lamp with a fluorescent bulb overnight for starters (about a foot away from the bulb)......LED bulbs don't seem to work as well....that will get you to at least "medium" on a charge in 12-15 hours. Question#2? I have no idea whatsoever. BTW....nice watch....the 2500 is a bit of a classic.
