Just wondering, they don't seem to be pulling the same price as other Chrono's, a few running about under the $300 mark.

I do not like them that much. Had three as part of my 6139 collection but have sold them all. Although the cases are impressive when in NOS condition otherwise they are not a particularly aesthetic shape and do not wear so well and lack the beauty of some of the other 6139's.
The price reflects this as their appeal is narrower than the chintzy Pogue etc.

$300 is still more than you'll get for most 6012s or 7080s. I tried one on once and I just couldn't see myself wearing them often - too high and barnacle-like. They're also hard to find in good original condition. I'd go for a 6139 6020 every day of the week for class and everyday wearability.

I think you could say the same about many 6139's, there are a number of models that are not valued very highly. Which is fortunate if you happen to like Helmets, because even mint ones can be bought for not a lot of money!
I had one a while ago, actually it was my first Seiko chrono, but I sold it quite quickly as I just didn't wear it. It didn't really fit my wrist, it was too high and narrow.

I have a few just to round out my collection (including one NOS w/boxes and papers), but I am not terribly fond of them. They are ding magnets, and tend to look ratty with much less wear and tear than other models. Oddly proportioned case. Plus, I really don't much care for the Z040/Z050 bracelets, to be honest.
I feel the same way about the -7080. I have one...and never wear it.

I just looked at completed listings for 6138 8020s. Anything decent is going for between $700 and $1100AUD - and some of those are without bracelets. The panda must be the highest priced (excl a few NOS Pogues) of the chronos.

...and then you've got the Baby Panda. And the Slide Rule. And maybe the rarest of them all, the -8010.

One day I'll sell it when I need to raise funds for something special but it won't get much. Lucky I only paid a tenner for it.

I have a 7080, I really like it but don't wear it much. They grow on you bigtime. As for the 7100. I have both bracelet variants. Don't wear them a lot. Each one was roughly the price of a speeding fine minus half a carton of beer. They are only good if the case is mint. A worn case looks awful. There's loads of shitters out there too with fake parts, bullshit paint etc.

Thanks for all the replies folk, sort of what I had expected but had to check out of curiosity as I had been noticing the great variation in price re other models, not thinking of buying one any time soon, sworn off all the "popular" collectibles cost too much and too much junk on the market. Then I am not really into collecting, I am more into tinkering side of the hobby, only have about 85 watches at present and I doubt that any would be considered "collectible", mostly old clapped out Seiko 5's.

Max you know your hooked when you state you "only" have 85 watches ! Problem is I can relate ! My problem is that most of my collection are junkers that I have restored and don't consider good enough to sell, mainly because of scrappy dials, so every time I get a crappy watch it ends up in my "collection".
