So over the past few months, I've collected three excellent examples of Seikos that have two things in common. First, folks have described their dials as "teal." Second, they are, by any objective standard, "rare" watches. Hints beyond that will be saved for later (if needed), but here's the contest: the first to correctly identify all three watches based only on these zoomed-in shots of a square of dial color wins. Difficult? Yes. Impossible? I suspect not. In no particular order (i.e., not necessarily in chronological order), they are: 1: 2: 3: As should be obvious there's some range here, but I did a quick google search and found at least a few forum posts referring to all three models as teal. So what's the prize? Well, nothing crazy, but I just sold a pretty-much-NOS example of a Seiko digital M354-5019 watch, the James Bond model from "Moonraker." The buyer wanted the watch and the paperwork, but declined the boxes. I can't justify tossing or storing them, but have no need for them myself. The outer box still has the sticker attached with the model number, and the inner box is in stellar shape with the original price tag ($150) and even the little foam protector. Photos: Reminder, the watch, papers, and hangtag are not included, though they are pictured in the second and third shots... I'm just too lazy to re-take the ebay photos. Also, winner only gets the prize if shipped to a US address - international will be too pricey. Sincere apologies to Adrian et al. FWIW, I am one of those forum-bridgers who posts on TOF too, but I have seen a lot more of these sorts of giveaways here and thought it would be nice to return the favor. Hopefully this "contest" isn't too weird, or is weird in the right way for this group. My wife thinks I'm nuts...

I would guess one would have to be the iconic SSASS, one would be the 613X (would have to Google it) and unless the 3rd is the one Thomas posted it would be a wild card unless it was Jellyfish model.
If I nailed it on a hunch . . . .

If I nailed it on a hunch . . . . Just to clarify, I won't consider it a "win" unless you identify each watch correctly in relation to the number. So color square 1 is a (X), 2 is a (X), 3 is a (X). No need for a full model number if it's obvious which one you mean, but I think with the way you answered I'd only consider one of three you listed as valid. There could be multiple examples of 613X with a teal dial (I think there are), and I don't know what Thomas just posted .

Ok, I'll have a go. 1. H556-510A. There's another obvious option, but I'll go with this. 2. King Quartz 4823-8010 3. Hmmm. Textured dial... Maybe a Vanac. A 5256-5000.
Regards,
Ross

Some good guesses but nobody's got the trio so far. Some hints:
1) All three are from a different decade.
2) When I say they are rare, I mean it. For all three, it's either a limited release or can be traced to a production range of 1-2 months. This crosses off many of the guesses here, obviously.
3) At least one has been correctly identified in the guesses so far.
Folks should feel free to guess a second time anytime after I've given a hint, for the sake of fairness.

Well, I'll have another go. Standing on the shoulders of giants (ie using the good guesses of others), I'll say;
1. 7548-700C (80's) 2. 6139-7060 (70's) 3. Bell-matic 4006-something (60s), a very poor guess.

Folks should feel free to guess a second time anytime after I've given a hint, for the sake of fairness. Clue 2, "production range of 1-2 months", makes my mind go straight to the 6139-6002 Teal Pogue made only in Nov and Dec 1972. Problem is, that ***seems***** to be true also for the 6139-7060 teal model. Kinda like Seiko made the teal dials for both before applying the similar but slightly different ink markings. I just gave up on a teal -7060 last week when it crossed the $200 line - I'm a seller at this point in time. And to my eye, the 6139-8050 Thomas asked about was green, not teal in my book. Anywho, that covers the 1970's. 1980's I have to go with the Teal 7548 diver. I don't consider any Vanac I've ever seen to be teal - green and blue yes, teal no, but there's a lot out there. It could be a teal King Seiko but I just want to go with my gut and the teal 7548-700X diver. Modern 2000 or newer - I'll throw a flare and guess the a Blue Lagoon with Teal on the bezel. Order? C'mon Brian Merrill, we have to guess what's behind Door #2 ! Now that's earning your stripes. OK, I'll play: Box 1 - Teal 7548-700X diver Box 2 - 6139-6002 Pogue Box 3 - Blue Lagoon modern any variety Even if I went 0-for-3 on the watches, never mind the order, Thank You for the contest. Awesome Post !

May I add I am feeling quite confident with Boxes #1 and #2. It's the donkey behind Box #3 that I am concerned about.

Some good analytical reasoning showing up here . Two more hints, I guess a little bigger this time. 1) Now all three watches have been definitively identified, but nobody's nailed the 1-2-3 yet. In fact, at least one person has identified the right watch but matched it to the wrong color swatch... 2) Two of the three decades are sequential - the other skips a decade. I suspect that'll be enough for someone to get it, but we'll see . And to reiterate, anyone can guess again after I give a hint - it's fun making up the rules! And if you do win and are outside the US, you can of course have me send the prize to anyone in the US you wish - paying it forward, more or less. Cheers! Brian

One last guess before bed:
1. H556-510A 2. 6139-6002 3. A modern blue lagoon
Carol Merrill is standing by with her donkey...

I believe it was Thomas who posted about this when they first came out, and it's the one that SeikoPsycho took umbrage with because he had created his mod with that same name a while back. I think he wanted royalties for the naming rights. But the competitive streak in me says, since there are more than one of these modern-day goes by "Blue Lagoon" with their blue dial and the teal / blue outer bezel, that any of them are encompassed in my guess.

OK, I'm thinking my hints are just confusing things, but here's one more batch. I think these are the giveaways, though.
1) Blue Lagoon is wrong. Not limited enough, and not the right decade (note my hint earlier about two sequential and then one skipping a decade).
2) Ross and Tom have both gotten one right in the right spot. Ross has otherwise gotten none right; Tom one, but in the wrong spot.
3) Someone noted that 3 looked textured. It's not quite textured, though it does catch the sun well...
4) The only one Tom has not correctly guessed at any point was guessed early on. I can definitively state that I own the very last example, at least in one way or another. There are actually two models I'll accept as right for this one, though I only own one. The two models are exactly as rare as one another.
