In true essence of a poor man cosmetic rebuild I have done everything on the cheap. This is how I found it. A quick polish and a generous bezel donation from rogart thank you. Finally a document from SeikoPsycho that stated the H558-5000 Arnie shared a bezel insert external diameter within 0.5mm. A bezel insert from Yobokies to replace my beaten insert on my Arnie. And replacing my old Arnie insert on my blue 7005. Finally a nice reproduction tropic sport from a thrift shop. The Arnie insert is about 2.5mm thick and sits about 1-1.5mm above the bezel. I can live with that. I will probably polish the exposed edge of the insert to keep it uniform. The insert is a tight fit so it won't be going anywhere. In total the poor mans MAS has cost me about $80 AUD. And almost half that was on the insert. Thank you for your generosity and time- everyone who contributed and supported my cheap restore. Cam

Really nice way to get that guy back onto the wrist. A lot of my favorites are far from museum pieces as they look so genuine.
I agree a quick and easy outer bezel shaping would go a long way to make that even nicer.
I love reading great resto threads like this, great photos too.
Congrats !

Aloha ,
Very nice and it has been brought back to its working life now.
Only a few more findings and it will look even better in time.
Great work and much effort has been done there and now for use.... 7dfe79adc2f0 :winner: . Louis

Nice wabi on that one, it definitely deserves some wrist time.

Another Seiko brought back on line. Nice work. Amazing that an Arnie bezel insert would fit. Is the bezel itself from a 7005-805X or something else? Just wondering as to the thickness of the original insert.

Yeah it's a 7005-805x bezel. The only replacement bezel i can think of is going to be off a less desirable 6309 sports diver. The Arnie is a beveled design the slopes down in to the crystal. Unlike most bezels it's not flat or curved down from crystal to outer bezel.
