I bought a strange cheap watch from the bay recently, turned out to not be a Seiko although it was labelled as one. Weirdly, the seller has contacted me saying that a buyer has asked him for my details as he wanted to buy the watch but his phone was dead when the auction ended. He asked if ok to forward my details, which I said no but send their details to me, which they've done.
The watch was only in the lunch money type range; has anyone heard of any scams like this or do you think it may be genuine?
Cheers

I might out of curiosity contact the other party to find out what their interest is, but I don't think I'd allow it to rise much beyond that.

I have made some pretty strange request when I haven't been the winner. In most cases the seller's generally tell me to go away. I have placed bids on watch lots; looking only at one or maybe two in the lot. These could be different then the ones someone else might be looking at. I have asked seller to pass on my info or ask if the buyer was really interested in all of the watches, if not i'm interested in X, Y,. I don't think I have ever asked for the winner (buyers) info before?
One auction for 15?? ladies movements I asked the seller, "If I don't win could you ask the buyer if he is interested in A, B, C? as these are all I'm looking for." The seller emailed me and said if you win I could just sell you those three for $1 ea. plus shipping and I'll relist the rest...I won and he honored that...

I'm jaded, but if it's reasonably common watch and not worth a ton, I'd stay away just due to weirdness factor. In my experience, things that start out weird only get more weird. Not worth the tine, trouble, or risk IMO.

So you have received the watch and the new buyer simply wants to buy it or discuss buying it? If that's the case I can't see the scam here.
If the buyer has an eBay account then ask to see it. If they haven't then, well, it's up to you but just don't accept a gift payment and prove you sent the watch to them using tracking to the address on the PayPal transaction.
