My wife and I attended a family function this weekend, a couple birthday's (Father in law & nephew), and a new Marine (birthday nephew) getting ready to head off to boot camp. We decided to take a break, and walk down to the beach for a little peace & quiet. A few blocks from the house, is the Pismo Beach Monarch Butterfly Grove. It's really amazing when they fill the trees, it really is a sight to see. It was a beautiful day! Stopped to take a few pics, we never take enough pics. Here we are with Neil, the Birthday boy who is headed off to boot camp.

California must be proof there is a creator as nothing that beautiful happens by accident.

Always nice to be able to get to the beach! Ain't that the truth! 50 minutes from my front door. Brighton Beach. The old pier. Burnt down 2010 . Love to sit here and watch the sun go down. That I can do it from any of the 3 bars with a beer is a bonus. Then I often go with one of my Sons on a night dive under the old pier. Man, love the beach....................

I grew up in the Country in a very small town in Washington State and every Summer when my Dad had a vacation we would go to the beach for two weeks camping which was like 80 miles away! It was the highlight of my Summer and always looked forward to it! Now we are fortunate enough to live a few minutes away from the Beach. I LOVE the Country living with all the trees, creeks and plants etc but living close to a Beach is TOPS! I often think of just how many people have never been to any Beach and will probably in their lifetime never see a Beach and feel sorry for them as they are missing SO much! This is where I grew up at.................... (My Dad built every inch of that house himself and I lived there until I was 18) (It's the one at the top of the pic with the Redwood deck/balcony) God how I miss that place!!!!!) This is where I live now............. (Still in the Country but not the same as Washington!)
