The new SBDC051 and SBDC053's have started arriving out of Japan, and I snapped a few quick (not great quality) pics so people can get a size comparison. Lugs are 20mm: Fancy pics from the web: SBDC051: SBDC053: My lowly size comparison pics: Sumo New 6309: Spork: Shogun: Modern Tuna: 300MM: Kinetic GMT's: Original Monster: Banana:

Thanks for the photos. I quite like the blue one. It's a pity they will suffer because of their association with the 62MAS LE.

I guess some people reacted badly to them when they were announced. People hoped they would be a very similar but more affordable option than the limited edition. It seemed a lot of people were dismayed at the hands and the larger case. It may take a while for people to get over the "Seiko stuffed it up" feeling and see them for what they are.

These are growing on me but not for the silly money some places are asking. Maybe in a year or two I'll see if I can snag the black one.

I was a touch worried about the size, but have to say it wears no larger than just about anything in the pics posted. Kinetic GMT makes it look positively slender.

I do like it with the exception of the hour hand. Like others I'll probably see what the prices are doing in a year or so and decide then. There are a LOT of watches that compete for the Pip Pound!
Ps- banana for scale? Redditor by any chance... 🤔

I know I have my radar going for anything hand wise that would work. Seems the 300MM hands are about the right style, but as that dial ia smaller, i worry they wouldn't be long enough. Lume is going to be an issue for them as well as this has the most recent greenish Seiko stuff, and I'm unsure aftermarket lume would work well with theOEM dial lume.

I like the hands. Plus, they're part of the watch as is. Let it be, I say. Instead of having it look less like itself and more like something else!

Not a fan of the, uh..."reservoir-tip" minute hand, but other than that I think they are pretty nice looking watches. I wish Seiko would move away from this handset. Purists were pissed because they were hoping for an inexpensive 62MAS clone, but on it's own merits this watch looks okay.
The 12 o'clock-to-6 o'clock measurement is a deal-killer for me. I can't wear a watch that's as wide as my wrist is, and it is why I had to flip my Sumo.
