I recently picked up this 7549 with the SQ dial, however, oddly it has a Kanji day wheel. I assume this dial didnt come with a Kanji day wheel? The movement will be getting a service so I could replace the Kanji with the correct one but I do like the Kanji day wheel. In the interests of keeping the watch original, would you replace the Kanji day wheel with a standard day wheel? Obviously not original is the blue shroud which I just fitted for a different look, I think it goes well with the watch.

Nice one. Just set the day to English. What other language was on the SQ version of the 7549?

I like Kanji on my Seiko whether it came that way or not. Most of my 6309's have had Kanji retrofitted.

That is a very nice looking watch, I don't know if it is correct but I would keep the kanji day wheel.

It's a -7010, so the kanji could be original. It's weird, yes. Were it a -7019 I'd be suspicious. If it were mine I'd leave it alone...kanji is kewl anyway.

I also like the kanji and general consensus looks to be the same I'll be stripping it down this weekend for a movement service, as when you pull out the crown all the way the second hand doesnt stop unless you turn the hands backwards - similar to an automatic hahaha - this is what got me thinking that maybe the Kanji day wheel might not be original and someone had worked on the movement before. The movement looks to be a 7549 but a service should sort it all out

Yeah, hopefully it's still a 7549 - There's a golden Tuna on Ebay atm, where the original movement was replaced with a 7546 and "because the hands did not fit" he put on horrible horrible Submariner style hands... He has the original, but won't include it in the sale

Be sure to note the date stamp on the back of the dial...or lack of one...and compare it to the SN on the caseback. If they are within 2-3 months of each other it probably came that way.

Yeah that one on ebay is a total mess up.
I'm looking for a 7549-7009 dial for my Golden Tuna but that one the whole watch is too rough

It's a pretty messed up case with that engraving on the back anyway.

By the way, since the golden is a top loader, how are you suppose to remove the movement from the one on eBay if it doesn't have the correct release lever?
