Hello!!!
Is there anybody out there? Must be somebody who knows about these watches, I did a check on the bay and could only find 3 listed, prices $213 / $253 & $425 all BIN, hard to get a fix on the current street value - would $100 be good value?

Aloha Sir , Hi Max, So you have a nice one now and it looks good too. The price range could be from .....$150.00 to maybe .....$ 300.00 as seen lately. A good one could be around .....$200.00 .... $230.00 - + ...... for a good price I think. I would not give more then ......... $125.00 - $130.00 ..... or pushing for them myself. I think that ...... $400.00 is ... Crazy - Outrageous ...... for them.... . Like you said they are getting high and many are not to nice too. If yours is in good condition maybe .......... $200.00 .... little more. It depends on who wants them and how badly to get it I would say. I got mine cheap but lately it went dead so it is going to be repaired when I get around to find another movement. Aloha Sir Louis

Aloha Sir Louis Thanks Louis, It is one I am thinking to buy, only small photos and hard to see too much detail, seller claims that it is all in working condition and that it has some scratches in the crystal, just had no idea of the going price as could not find any auction to see what they were bringing, BIN prices don't have a lot of relevance as to what buyers will pay. The seller sells quite a few watches and the price bothers me a bit as he would be aware of the going price and it seems a bit low. Thanks for your advice, much appreciated! Max

Aloha Sir,
Hi Max,
Max these are nice but very delicate also on the movements when handled. If you get one and need some help just let me know Max might be able to help al little. These movements are same as the .... Navihawk's and very similar to the ...Stars and Stripes also. They have plastic gearing in them, but once done you might be able to repair them also. On some other forums they have some repair statements and postings to offer. These are done by our own..... siralan and he is a Pro and sharp on them.
Crystals are easy changes , stripping is also quite easy, but some what touchy when opened. Have to revue the postings about them before doing them, it shows some good points to know about them. If you need some pictures I have some saved that will help. Aloha Sir Louis

Hi louis,
Thanks for your help, still tossing up wether to get it or not, I am not much into quartz as far as restoration goes, but I wear them almost exclusively - just grab and go and I have more than I can get to wear at present - just twinges of the disease I think,

The C300 Navihawk was pretty much an "instant classic" for Citizen when they released them around 1994. I was so taken by them while in college back in 1997 that I actually went to a local jewelry store and financed one! Paid $179 for it...a lot of money for a broke-as-a-joke college kid. Great watches, but the movement has an Achilles' Heel. There is a small plastic post inside the movement that is under constant spring tension when the movement is not in Setting Mode. When this post shears off...and they often do...the movement will not come out of setting mode and the digital displays will constantly flash. There is no real way to fix this other than a replacement movement, as this particular post is molded into the base plate of the movement. I'd say $150-200 is fair for a nice one, with $75-$150 being the going rate for one with "issues". Some models are rarer than others, with the black dialed version and the Blue Angels version being the most common. I sold mine to a member of the original SCWF for $50 in about 2005. He had IWW go through it and bead blast the case. It was then sent to his son in the Middle East who was a US pilot over there. I have since purchased a few others, but you always remember your first! The good news is these movements are still available from Citizen. The even better news is that they appear to have put this movement back into production and are offering new models with the C300.

I recall a post from Louis about how to repair a post in a Citizen, wonder if it is the same post you're talking about?

I recall a post from Louis about how to repair a post in a Citizen, wonder if it is the same post you're talking about? Probably. I took a couple of whacks at making this repair but was unsuccessful. I am sure it could be done with the right technique and enough diligence. The only way I could think of to effectively repair it would be to drill a same-sized hole in the area underneath the sheared post and replace it by inserting either a new plastic post or a metal one. The problem is that there isn't much plate thickness under the post to drill into without fouling other parts of the movement. Glue of some kind might work, but since the post is under constant tension I don't know if it would be a permanent solution. To my knowledge it is really the only common problem with these movements. I used to have a picture of the C300 "post problem" in question, but Photofuuckit may have eaten it.

Aloha , This is the area mention about getting to find ... " The Broken Post Pin ". First this is to be done: 1 - Remove the Metal Body on the movement. Little screws.......... then lift it off carefully. 2 - Gently remove the ......" PCB Board ".... off the clips ...... Place in a safe place. 3 - Then this ..... " Below will be exposed. " Then very carefully lift this ..... " Center Plastic Piece ".... with out disturbing the ......" Gearing beneath it ". This is looking at it from the ... " Top ". NOTE: I place a ...." Wooden Tooth Pick on the Center and hold it with little pressure ". Then I use a ..... Dental Pick placed at the edges ..... " Lifting it Very, Very , Slowly ". Then it will expose ............." All of this and I make very certain.....I don't disturb them ( Or you can remove to clean and service ". Now This The Problem Tom Be Fixed : " This Very Small Plastic Pin " Stripped Clean it looks like this:

Thanks for that info cobrajet , I like the style of the watch but knew nothing about them or their value so I came to the place where I was sure I would get the "good guts" on them, pays to check these things out as it is a Gumtree sale and doesn't have the protections of the bay - seller claims all functions are working & the series of photos show the display changing and the hands moving - just have to keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best.

Hi Louis,
Thanks for your previous post on repairing, it is very helpful, and for this one showing what they look like close up, just a point of interest is that a sticker on the case back? When I was researching on the bay I found 3 all the same model only difference being the serial numbers, however 2 had case backs like yours and 1 had an embossed case back.

Thanks for the explanation Louis, I rechecked the ones I looked at and as you said the Navihawk had the embossed case back and no "Blue Angels" banner on the dial, didn't look close enough! On the bay they all seem to be referred to as "Navihawk's", Any way I bit the bullet and bought it, just have to wait and see what turns up, be aware if it is a heap of crap, you are to blame, your threads on these got me interested and then addiction kicks in. Max

Just for the sake of reference, some of the non-flight team watches say " Citizen Promaster" on the back. Others...maybe later ones...say " Citizen Navihawk".

These are nice watches but as stated....make sure you ask questions about the movement functions. I managed to score a brand new Thunderbirds and a Blue Angels in great condition. The C300 movement can be really quirky. If the seller doesn't know the history make sure returns are accepted of course. Both were Craigslist finds with full kit but you definitely have to be careful there. I've taken that risk a lot and have been successful so far. I paid $210 for the Thunderbirds and $180 for the Blue Angels. I would try to stay as close to $200 as possible.

Thanks for your reply, you have a couple of very nice examples there, seller says all functions are working so I hope for the best, the selling platform is "Gumtree" a lot like Craigslist, unfortunately doesn't have the same buyers protection as on the bay. Payed approximately US$100.00 posted so not too frightening, just have to await delivery an see if my luck held.
