*Urushi Dial (damned autocorrect and I can’t edit the post title it seems) I think this may be GuyJ at home perfecting his dial refinishing... 🤣 youtu.be/lI9tnQJEXXU

Hah I wish... Seen that before. Very nice workmanship. Would love to create my own dial one day.

Flashy, but fun! Not sure if I followed the story line – what's the parallel of the technician who is effectively in a hazmat suit, and the old craftsman painting dials at his tea table?

The guy in the paint booth suit is preparing the dials with the base coat. The other gentleman is putting the finished surface materials(laquers) on the dials and 'hand rubbing' them for that special finish that can only be achieved by rubbing in a little organic material and DNA.

Ah, but in the end, both white and black were depicted side-by-side for advertisement. I sort of got the feeling that the story implied that the black dials were met with more care and special treatment than "base" whites. I do think that it's a bit of a strange video, though lovely to watch.
