Wearing a '75 4823-5000 King Quartz today, a recent arrival from YJ. Wasn't running when I got it. Couldn't get the battery hatch off to save my life (thankfully the seller didn't butcher it trying), so I had to go in from the front. This model has a one-piece case, and to get to the movement you have to go in through the glass. It also has a movement which is secured by what I find to be a very fiddly and annoying locking ring arrangement. There are two tabs on the outside of the movement, one at 12 o'clock, and one at 4 o'clock. These have to be moved...very carefully...about 1/8 of a turn clockwise to release the movement. When the movement is reinstalled in the case, these tabs have to be in exactly the right position or the the dial ring won't fit. As I pulled the movement from the case, this crusty battery fell out. Uh-oh... Turns out there was no damage to the movement from the battery leak. I used computer duster to blow the battery leakage out, popped in a fresh cell, and it fired right up. There is no way in HELL I would have ever gotten the battery hatch off from the back. Over the last 40 years, the once-pliable rubber hatch gasket had turned itself into an insurmountable plastic locking ring. Was hard even to push the hatch out from the inside. I have seen a couple other black versions of this model, but this is the only blue one I have ever seen.

Overcast Sunday. 1st gen OM and just a taste of the devastation from Friday's nor'easter. Lost two massive trees, like this, on my street alone. Rob

Latest Franken creation. NOS 6106 dial, festures magical color-changing center band just like the 3 color dials in my 7006-7020 set. NOS vintage H&M hands with a perfect match vintage sweeper.
