Like everything, they're not to everyone's taste. Personally, I love them and their cousin 6138's, so much variety in dial design, bracelet design, colour schemes, bezels. Even the dial detail, stepped subdials, sunburts, different writing on them... God I need to hit YJ and buy a load more!!!

NOT want at least one 6139 in their stable?? Now that's a Beauty Aaron! I've got an 8002 I've been working on. Is that an original bracelet? It seems there were a couple of different styles offered with this model.

Proof/proof. I like the big, chunky case on this model. Like wearing a bar of soap on your wrist!

I’ve only got one in my collection - my 6139-6020 - and it’s one I will always cherish and never part with, because of the story behind it. It’s also the watch that brought me here to Wrist Sushi and kickstarted my interest in watches, particularly vintage Seiko. That said, as much as I do like the reference, I can’t see me adding any more to my collection. Why not? Well, I’m not a huge chrono fan for one thing. And I don’t really know enough about them to spot the less-than-obvious ‘dodgy’ examples out there. But mainly because I find the prices are prohibitive when it’s not something I really yearn. So, for now, I’ll just stick with this beauty.

Guess I'm not a serious collector then, not that I ever thought I was. I have one, a well used -7060, and it is for sale. I am over chronographs, I guess. I have one each 7A28 and 7A38 and seldom wear either.

Love 6139s for aesthetics and what they represent about one of my favorite watch companies, but functionally I find them not useful compared to later and modern chronograph.

[How the hell could any serious watch collector...] NOT want at least one 6139 in their stable?? *Politely raises hand* Allow me to dutifully mention the want vs. have distinction, an indispensible phenomenon to bring into consideration when approaching this research question, for science of course! And if I may fancy a conjecture: while I may not yet have arrived at sound analysis, I do have one hypothesis which crucially hinges on the involvement of what Paul the Apostle is often attributed to for calling "the root of all evil". As for those who don't meet the "want" attribute, well, .

Lol...my statement was actually worded very carefully with this exact distinction in mind.

Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE the 6139 family. I've had about 20+ models. Down to 8 to wear and 10 to fix and sell. Back in the day: (CLICK ON PIC to enlarge):
