Morning WSers! Hope the world is well wherever you are today. For me it’s the recently discontinued SARB017 Alpinist on a rainy day here in the South of England.

It was raining slightly when I snapped this earlier this morning. Diamatic branded 7006-5000 from Nov ‘73, bought as a non-runner a few months ago. I finally got round to giving it the full spa treatment yesterday and its now running like a champ. Floating dial as the dial feet were missing and I couldn’t be arsed trying to fit replacement ones, so it’s being held in place by the crystal gasket and crystal. There’s nothing different in this than my other two 7006-5000s, other than the dial branding, so can only assume ‘Diamatic’ was some marketing gimmick back in the day.

Don't think I've shown this one off yet. Picked it up having no idea what it is but price was right and it seemed pretty nice. Turns out Mallard was a brand put out by Jules Borel "by watchmakers for watchmakers". Only available to watch repair shops and the like. Must be somewhat scarce.

Got it. This beauty arrive in better condition that I thought it would. It needs a little cleaning up but that's about it.
