Big thank you to Roger rogart who kindly send me this Seiko as he thought it was my style. He was right! Nice and retro and totally 70s Love these two tone blues that Seiko did. Just needed a service and full case overhaul. Then found a 10mm lug bracelet courtesy of my friend Ramon. Came up lovely and now one of my favourite pieces Thanks again Roger I could not be happier.

That turned out great Mike! I too love the Seiko blue dials, the effort they put in is incredible.

Great job reviving this one Mike. I find this sort of resto to be the best part of our hobby.
New hands and crystal look great. It's amazing what you can do with a "basket case"
Rogart deserves a shout out too, nice gesture Roger !

Roger was generous with this for which I am thankful

Hi Mike, A fine job as always. Does the 6119-5490 have a crystal gasket? Mine just arrived from Buyee, and has no such gasket - it's just case against acrylic crystal against dial. I can't see how that would meet the water resistant claim of the '75 dated caseback. Boley isn't linking to a front gasket either. This is all I got. So, should the crystal be sealed to the case with some sort of waterproof adhesive, or do you know of a link to a workable gasket? Regards, Jake

Mike, It is incredible how you are able to restore the crisp sharp case lines that Seiko originally produced. I too like these older Seikos as you know

Great job, Mike! We here all love the chronos, divers, etc, but it's amazing how some relatively modest watches can absolutely strike a chord with us and become pieces we really get attached to.
This '80 8229 came to me as basically a freebie in a small lot I bought for another watch, and I wear it all the time. Well, the head itself was free, then I just had to find an original bracelet!

Regards, Jake I have never known any Seiko to have the acryllic crystal glued to the case in any manner. That cannot be right. As a pure guess but based on working on a lot of similar Seikos from that era, you will notice no claim of water resistance in terms of "70m" or such. My conclusion is it just was a tight press fit when the case was new and the crystal flange is there to keep water from getting in when splashed on, etc.

Thanks acidstain but FA3100B01 is the caseback gasket - I'm concerned by the lack of crystal gasket. That is the crystal gasket. I have one and it’s similar in style to the 6309-7040 or a 6139-6002 crystal gasket (it has a “ledge” or a step) where the crystal sits in top of the gasket. Back gasket is 0B3005B01 cgi.julesborel.com/cgi-bin/matcgi2?ref=SEK+cs%236119-5490&submit=SearchSometimes boley mislabels the gaskets position. I always see them mix up the crystal, bezel and back gaskets on citizens.
