I think it looks pretty cool!
But I would never do an irreversible mod.

One of the amazing things about vintage Seikos is how well the lume holds up over time. You will see watches that are 40 or 50 years old which still have snow white lume, and that lume STILL GLOWS.
I have no problem with patina'd lume on a vintage piece, but I always thought of that as more of a, well..."Swiss thing".
Under normal circumstances, Seiko lume doesn't really fail and degrade with simple age like that used on Swiss watches. Why the hell would you want to make it look like it has?

I think it’s cool...except for the damage to the “K”. I’d never do it, don’t want it, but I’ll give it a thumbs up.

Looks to me to be a case of having more money then sense.

Looks to me to be a case of having more money then sense. So true. The new age collector pocket full of stupid money and a lack of common sense.

I think you’re all being a bit harsh. If it’s his watch and that’s what he likes then good luck to him, it’s not like there’s only a few of these in the world and they should be preserved as museum pieces.
But I do agree with lots of you, not my cup of tea either.
