That should double the value I was thinking the same. It now looks like the first MM300 made in 1955 They should also beat up the case and crystal to match

That's salt water intrusion.

The guy took and intentionally made the dial lool lk like that. I thought putting the dials in a oven was part of the discussion.

He should have wasted it on one of those cheap Merkur copies.

Gotta admire his commitment at least. I'm impressed, I couldn't do it.

Thing thats even worse then the fake vintage look mod is that someone will pay stupid money to get it.

Some of you know me as a bit of a modder, albeit with a purist twist..
So, that said, here's where I'm at on this one..
I like it for several reasons..
Firstly, it's a real mm300 and not a "fake" replica watch.
Secondly, for what it is, the mod appears to be well done, ie, could a vintage style mod of this watch be done better?... I'm judging it by what it's creator intended it to be.
Thirdly, you have to admire someone who has the balls to mod an expensive piece such as the marinemaster 300..sort of like using hundred dollar bills to start a campfire and if he messed it up, he's ruined a perfectly good watch...
Fourthly, many brands are now coming out with vintage style pieces, right from the factory..love them or hate them, they seem to sell ok.
And fifth, the creator has made for himself a truly unique and one of a kind watch and it's likely no one else has one..sort of a "poor man's LE" version of the mm300.
Lastly, just to be clear, this isn't my mod and I have no idea who the creator is...but I like his courage to do something like this.

I’m not really into the whole fauxtina thing. I like watches that look old and faded/discoloured because they ARE old.
But each to their own.

The lume plots aren't that bad but the bezel insert just looks dirty.

I am interested how this will look in a few years time... Yeah, me too. If the lume was actually patinaed by heating it in an oven I’d be concerned it would break down the binder and cause it to crumble over time.

If it was done with tea or sea water, the tannic acid or salt compounds will turn the lume to a gooey black mess within a year or so

Really? He successfully made it look like one of the worst MM300's around. The guy took and intentionally made the dial lool lk like that. I thought putting the dials in a oven was part of the discussion.

Might have been done with woodstain. Had similar results on a aftermarket 6309 dial.
