It would be really nice if when I purchase an item listed as shipping from a location in the US that it actually ships from a location in the US, not Central America or O’Canada.
That’s all. I feel better now.

I bought a watch a while back that was in the USA, but shipped from Israel. I wanted to leave negative feedback, but I didn't.

I get that a lot. It says ships from London but the seller address is in China them the item turns up 2 weeks later with a sent from label saying Netherlands.

I suppose technically the listing default only mentions “item location” and not where it will be shipped from. Granted, you would think they *should* be one and the same, but I guess unless the seller actually states “item will be shipped from [location]” they’re not being deliberately deceptive. I’ve seen a few listings though where the seller does state that the item may be shipped from any one of a number of different locations.

Pretty clearly states item ships from Miami Florida, not Costa Rica.

In which case, that’s just bollocks. Haven’t seen that often in the UK listings I’ll be honest.

It’s happened a few times for me. Fortunately all ended well. Just annoying more than anything.

These are people running a crappy dropshipping business from their kitchen.
Personally, I think dropshipping is a terrible business model.
Ebay will crack down on people doing the wrong thing but won't stop it as they make too much money on fees.

I wanted to buy my TG from USA figured I'd get better service. When I got my pay pal statement I saw it was all in Chinese characters. I saw the Seller was "based in China". After trying to use it for some time and getting mixed results. I didn't think it was working properly and I reached out to the seller. In the warranty window of 1 year as stated in his ad. I got an auto response saying he was away...I tried several more times and got the same response. My next message was "I'm filing a claim". He then answered asking me a bunch of questions. I answered them the same day and got crickets..I filed a claim with eBay and they said it was too late and to reach out to pay pal. I did the said they would look in to it because I'd used paypal credit and b/c of that it was warrantied for a year...After a week I reached back out and they gave me the same run around. A week later I got an email deigning the claim. I called back and explained again. Having saved all the "seller is away" messages as well as the one of time asking me questions. I offered those and was told we'll ask you to email them when we get to that point. Frustrated I called again and was told by the guy that there was nothing anyone there could do...Not sure why I got jacked around. He said if the item never arrived or it wasn't the right item then they could do something! I tried to say that after looking it over more closely it wasn't the right item he said sorry, is there anything else I can do for you? I said you haven't done anything yet beyond waste my time. I then tried one last time with eBay saying he is representing that there is a 1 year warranty and he is not honoring that. I then started to report his auction where he had that 1 year in the auction...I was then told not to contact the seller again...
Live and learn...

What about those turd sellers who are just hobbyists who say they are shipping from a major city in one state, but they live in a small town in the neighboring state?
Speaks to their character for sure.
And yes we know who that is.

Ebay is so full of shit, Ebay won't let one change certain info, Controlled default listing restrictions, Sellers that come across as full disclosure 100% transparent honest and then they send you a piece of shit. The less one uses ebay the better IMHO.

And then there are the ebay purchasers who develop buyers remorse. So they fabricate some "issue" with the watch which then allows them a completely free return at the seller's expense.
So then you, as the seller, are out 2 shipping charges. You still have the watch to sell again. Even when you show detailed photos of compromised areas and the auction says 'no returns', all a buyer has to do is make up some crock of $h!+ shortcoming about something else and he gets a freebie no obligation look-see on the seller's nickel.
Disgraceful.

The obvious answer is to sell your lovely watches all to me at massively reduced giveaway collector prices on the members special forum here. I promise I won't gripe!

My auctions are plan as day no returns for parts only as is etc etc. Even then I had a guy buy a Hamilton from me buyer remorse set in and when he saw the relief area where you insert a "tool" to remove the bezel saying it was a defect not disclosed. He didn't follow up with eBay but I wasn't sure what they'd do...

It happens in the world of Rolex a lot - buy watch, scavenge parts, insert non-Rolex working parts such that it still runs, return for refund.

To go off track a bit more, did anybody see the episode of the US version of Antiques Roadshow recently with the guy who had the Tiffany & Co co-branded Rolex GMT Master? He took it in to have it serviced at an official Rolex dealer and was told if Rolex serviced it they would remove the Tiffany branded dial and replace it with new. He wisely chose to preserve the watch as original and had it service elsewhere.

Did not see that, but horror stories abound where vintage patina'd dials are confiscated by RSC and replaced with modern spare parts drawer dials, cutting value by 2/3 and gutting the owner.
