Hi all.
When dealing with truly NOS 50 year old watches, what is the best course of action when wanting to bring them to a wearable state? Is it recommended to do get a full service and dismantling of the movement with all new gaskets?
Thank you

I think this is recommended, yes. The parts should be okay and not worn, but if you run it with dried up / gunky oils, that can change rather quick...
Personally, I'd inspect the gaskets and only change them if they are through. I can imagine that 50 years will make at least the pusher and back gaskets unusable, but who knows?
A full service (dismantling and cleaning) should be done, though.

Normally, you'd almost have to service them to even get them to run. These watches have no wear, and the original oils have not been dispersed with use. Both of these things usually make for a watch that is too sticky inside to even move, let alone keep time.
