To keep it short, I intended to buy a watch off a man from other other side of town (Dandenong) I'm from Melbourne's western suburbs (St.Albans) In Australia.
Do I bite the bullet? Its $100 and he has offered $15 postage registered but unfortunately they don't offer any form of buyer protection and Gumtree says Cash in person is best. The seller won't meet for a transaction. Any other Australian watch buyers here bit the bullet before on such a circumstance?

I had a look at the watch Nathan and it could be a good deal...definitely unrestored, slight flag raised that the second hand doesn’t move at all in the photos, pretty hard with an auto...perhaps not as running as the seller states... bit of a worry he won’t meet for the sale...buy the seller as they say.
Could be a good deal, could be a disaster!

This isn't the 6119 6023 is it? If so, you'll receive your package - I've bought a few things off the same seller. However, he doesn't tend to be forthcoming about faults. It may be running, but it may not be running well. I would ask if the inner bezel rotates with the crown as it should - if that gear is gone or damaged they're hard to get and will double the cost.

Thanks for the advice guys, I noticed the seconds hand not moving and he did mention that the inner ring did rotate, how well? I'll never know. It's a bit disappointing but I've gone with advice from axb about replacement parts for my 6119 and sought out schillachi61 for my NOS parts I need. It would be a great deal but for what I would spend on postage and the item itself, I could get from Stefan knowing I'm getting the parts I need. Its just a shame people use the Gumtree platform disconnectedly, but then again its more a flaw of the platform. Maybe someone else will take the punt and get a hold of it, the seller stopped responding to my messages.

I've bought a few of these over the years. In this sort of condition you can often pick them up for $50 or less. Be patient. The seller is rather prickly and I treat him with caution.
