As many of us have these and are happy to service these- has anyone had any luck in repairing coils? It looks like someone has had a bash at soldering the thin wires to the contact points- I have another that looks like it has a dent to the coil but no fractures I can see. Will upload later. I’ve seen others that have some line of putty or paste over them. This one is working fine. The simple solution is to replace, but at some point these parts will become scares. Any repair techniques or anyone looking for some coils to repair?

The only thing I've read is that there is a liquid that is used to repair coils.

If it's open circuit you could possibly use conductive paint as used in repairing the rear window heating elements in cars. Just need a very fine brush.

Yeannnhh, that doesn't sound right, to an Electrical Engineer.
On the other hand, I used to hand wind armatures for slot car engines back in the 70's, using some pretty fine wire, so I don't see why you could not re-wire a spool if you had to.

I have tried to fix a few 7123 coils but it is nearly impossible.
If the wire is broken on the coil body and not over the ends, forget it because the wire is so thin that it breaks off just trying to manipulate it.
If the wire(s) are broken near the point where the solder to the terminals on the plate then you have a half way decent chance of adding a short piece of wire with solder.
Using conductive paints or similar will not work even though you complete the circuit. All of these things have enough resistance to change the L/R of the circuit and will either not work or will make the coil too weak for proper operation.

These all sound like the "words of WISdom"!

Are we going to get to a point where we need to manufacture a replacement coil? Surely there would be a machine somewhere in the universe, clever enough to do this for cents.

They do sell something called “circuit maker” in watch supply shops. Though its named “circuit” it is indeed a liquid you paint over the coil. I do not know the limitations of this product, but it sells well.

Aloha I was once told that to wrap a Coil like for generators ,etc. that it has to have a certain .... ( Amount of wire wrapping's and maybe some good tight tension of the wire ) Could be just a say thing but it came from a ....Electrical Guy. Just was wondering also. Louis

The gauge and length of the wire is important...this coming from an electrical guy
