I periodically search the internet for people looking to fix G757s and came across this forum. I posted a few threads a few years ago on some other forums about fixing faded and dead screens with new capacitors and somehow missed wrist sushi. If you have any questions about how to fix them feel free to ask.

Welcome. This is my unicorn, I have an octopussy sitting dormant waiting for a new circuit thanks to acidstain it will likely arrive this week. I have about 2-3 other modules that are either fried or repairable. From what I understand there are a series of tiny capacitors that overhear usually causing the problems? The things on the left of the photo. This particular one sparked up after the circuitry was cleaned on the right hand side. Hopefully this baby will be back on my wrist soon.

Welcome. This is my unicorn, I have an octopussy sitting dormant waiting for a new circuit thanks to acidstain it will likely arrive this week. The things on the left of the photo. This particular one sparked up after the circuitry was cleaned on the right hand side. Hopefully this baby will be back on my wrist soon. The little brown boxes with a terminal on either end are the capacitors for the screen. The ones in your pic look like the original capacitors. I don't know if they fail through use or just from age, but the mode of failure I saw in all the modules I worked on was the capacitors losing capacitance. Cleaning the PCB is a good idea, but be prepared for disappointment when your screen gets better only to fail again in a week or so. Got pics of the rest of your modules? General info I never bothered to write down:A good indicator that your G757 is about to fail is excessive battery consumption. Mine needed a new battery every month or two. I replaced the capacitors and the battery two years ago and haven't had to open it up since I don't think the capacitors themselves overheat and cause issues, but dying capacitors will temporarily get worse even with mild heating from something like falling asleep on top of your watch. Whenever this happened to me my watch reported the incorrect time. I can't find a diagram for the G757's IC so I can't explain exactly why this happens. I believe the trimming capacitor has a maximum value of 3pF. I've never seen one go bad, but if anyone ever needs one I figured this could be helpful. I can get an exact number once I find the chocolate tin I wrote it down on.

Thank you that was very helpful. Such a simple board being held by 2 screws.
