My local GS AD (I love being able to casually say that ) recently moved into a new shop across the avenue. Easily 6x the retail space so now Everything is out on display. The best version of a candy store. I had the day off and decided to stop in and browse and chat and drool. This was motivated in no small part in that their website is featuring an SLA033 which means they must have one! Yay. I purposely wore my 6105-8110 so I could get an in the flesh comparison. I must say that my experience was much what I would have predicted based on earlier interactions with the SLA017. Not crazy about the dial text or lack of applied Seiko logo. Disappointed in the stop light being painted instead of lumed. Dial indices not flat or sharp enough. And of course the decision to do a limited edition 8L for the price of a good used car. A more everyman 6R in the sub $1K range would have been more true to the roots of the watch. That being said, as was with my in the flesh impressions of the SLA017, what a gorgeous piece. If $4500 had the relative impact to my finances as say, $500 does, I would buy one without hesitation. The other real highlight of the visit was seeing/fondling/wearing the SLA025. Other than the painted stoplight I can find no real faults (other than the financial aspect...unobtainium at this juncture). The real question answered was the case. I have wondered for many years if an SBDX001 could live on my wrist, even with the silly busy dial text. Sadly the answer is yes. Without any doubt. It's a bit on the tall side and I expect I would wind up whacking it on a lot of stuff, but the flat back of the monocoque case sits pretty much perfectly on my relatively flat 7.5" wrist. Sigh. I may have a new obsession that could lead to some sell off to obtain... If you are ever in Orlando you really must block out some time to visit the Orlando Watch Company. You won't find a better retail attraction. www.orlandowatchco.com/

Anyone else have a problem with their pants fitting tighter after looking at the pics in this thread or is it just me? Yeah, but I think that’s more to do with my alcohol consumption

Anyone else have a problem with their pants fitting tighter after looking at the pics in this thread or is it just me? Would that be from excitation or evacuation?

I am with you about the seconds hand on these. Why the hell didn't Seiko just mix up a bit of pink lume? Why the blob of red paint? If they had to use red paint, why couldn't they have at least tinted it to look like freakin' 6105 lume? Why did they make the seconds hand on this $4,500 watch look like all of the cheap aftermarket 6105 seconds hands I have seen for the last ten years? All I can think of is that the two lume colors would cause a problem with ISO certification? Speaking of which...
I have another gripe with this watch. The bog-common "Diver's 200m" on the dial. I wish Seiko would have just foregone the ISO certification on this watch. I mean, WHO THE BLUE F&CK IS GOING TO DIVE WITH ONE OF THESE?? Is a guy who makes his living welding underwater on oil rigs going to be rockin' one? Or some Jacques Cousteau wannabe? It would have been much better had they just put "Water150mResist" on the dial instead instead of trying to give this $4,500 piece of limited edition man-jewelry "tool watch cred".
I doubt any SLA033 is going to go any deeper than the shallow end of the swimming pool.
All in all, though, it's a nice watch. End of rant.

Saul this is a bit off point but what bracelet is on your 6105? It looks great ! I've tried so many bracelet setups on this watch, most of them fail. While I like the look of any number of 19mm or 20mm bracelets they are just too skinny to actually balance the weight of the watch. This combo is my favorite. It is a modern (SKX) oem 22mm Seiko President with a set of Yobookie "Hammer" end caps. Despite the angle of the pics here exaggerating any perception of a gap at the lugs the fit is quite flush to the case. The link style is of course super comfy and the bracelet is solid but light weight. If I could improve upon it at all I would wish the end caps were smooth like a set of EastTech's instead of scored with faux link lines, and I would want a better clasp. The oem clasp is just like the Jubilee, flip lock but friction set. I would much prefer a double pushbutton release. But overall it gives modern support with an appropriately vintage look.

"Disappointed in the stop light being painted instead of lumed. Dial indices not flat or sharp enough" I really wanted to love this watch, but I just can't get over the dial looking like the multitude of aftermarket 6105 dials that littered the web. I do take my hat off to those who will buy one and might in years to come lust after one, but that dial

I guess not being all that interested in the 6105 (yet) I did not realize the seconds hand red was a lume paint. Honestly just saw it as paint. I love learning from you guys...But it begs the question why do you need two different color lumes on the same hand. I see adding the red to give contrast in day light if your timing something, but at night/dark one lume will do what it needs to do?

If they had matched the paint to the original somewhat baby aspirin orange lume color I would be more amenable to it not glowing in the dark.
